Blumhouse 4-Movie Horror Collection (The Veil / Mercy / Visions / Mockingbird) [DVD]

There are some scares. Some surprises. Not really horrible movies, but did these really play at the theatres? I don't remember them being out at the movie houses. Blumhouse usually does good scary, jump-at-you movies. But these were lacking in the usual fair. But for the price, I was satisfied. Will I watch any f the four again? Maybe on a rainy day when I forgot what they were about. Which is another point. Some of Blumhouse movies stay with you for a while. But these sort of wander away only minutes after viewing them.

Movie wasn’t what I thought it was. I didn’t read the write up before I bought the movie. Too much gore. My fault.

Mercy is moderately entertaining. The Veil is weird but somewhat entertaining. Mockingbird has too much nudity and sex. Haven't seen the other one yet. I wouldn't buy it again. We may watch Mercy again sometime but not too soon.

I found out that Mercy was a Stephen King and it was much less expensive to get the 4 pack. Enjoyed the other 3 movies as well.

Movies were okay not great came in good shape DVD’s worked great, didn’t expect much for the price only one of the moves was lame 😒 good acting bad writing

If you love scary movies this was great for the money.

Some movies could use some plot help but all in all I love them.

Disc 1: The Veil (2014) Jessica Alba & Thomas JaneA documentary film crew explores the site of a mass suicide & discovers old film footage of the cult & its leader & what happened prior to & during the suicide.Being a fan of Thomas Jane & Lily Rabe, I expected more from this film. Jane's performance as the deranged cult leader is over the top & downright silly at times. It drags in places & overall was disappointing. 2.5/5Mercy(2014) Chandler Riggs & Frances O'ConnorA single mother & two young sons move into Grandma's house to care for the ailing woman who has a dark secret.I loved the Stephen King story "Gramma" this movie is based on. However, like most King stories/novels turned into films, this one misses the mark. It's not a terrible film & I will probably watch it again. Shirley Knight(Gramma) & the youngsters do a fairly good job but it could have been much scarier & the ending is all wrong & sappy. 3/5Disc 2: Visions(2014) Isla Fisher & Anson MountA pregnant woman starts to see & hear strange things in her new home.This is a somewhat clever little mystery that appears to be a haunted house story but takes a bit of a turn toward the end. If you pay close enough attention you'll probably be able to figure out the ending or at least part of it midway through. It's a good one. 3.5/5Mockingbird(2014) Alexandra Lydon & Barak HardleyThree people receive video cameras & are ordered to film or die.The premise is silly but the movie is surprisingly creepy with a few good scares. The story unfolds through their shaky hand-helds. From the excitement of discovering a free camera on their doorstep to the weird ending we, the viewer, are along for the freaky ride.Barak Hardley, steals the movie, as Leonard(the clown) with some funny moments.The ending is shocking but totally stupid. But then every horror film is a little stupid isn't it? I enjoyed it. 4/5This is a fairly good pack of popcorn movies. So settle in for the night & enjoy one or two or have a four movie marathon. It's a few hours of good harmless fun.
