Knock-Offs : Totally Unauthorized Action Figures

A Delightful Follow-up to Rack Toys
I bought this book as a gift, skimmed through it, and knew very quickly I needed to get my own copy. This is a breezy, tongue in cheek look at unlicensed toys from the 50s through the present, with a ton of large, full color images. There's a little overlap in content from the author's previous book, Rack Toys, but not so much as you'd feel cheated to have bought both.Mind you that this is meant to be a coffee-table style book or a conversation-starter rather than any sort of serious identification or pricing guide. You'll probably go through it in a long afternoon, but the true joy of it is finding your favorite bizarre bootleg (In my case a toss-up between the knock-off Universal Monsters range which a logo of all of them embracing Sesame Street-Style and an unlicensed Skeletor where he's inexplicably wearing a huge sombrero) and springing it on you friends. One thing to note is the occasional printing error. One of the two copies I got had 30 pages repeated in the middle, although with no pages missing overall. While I strongly recommend this book, I also recommend giving it a quick once-over when you get it.

Excellent Go To of the Best, Worst, and Weirdest in Knock Offs
Amazing! Simply amazing! As a toy collector, the murky underworld of bootleg toys has always fascinated me. Now, in one beautifully designed book, I have a collection of some of the craziest and kookiest knock-offs to ever grace your local dollar store! From Insect Man to the Sense of Right Alliance, from Big Fella to Satyr Masters, they are all here!Highly recommend!
