Updated review Nov 2018: The company (Home Planet Gear) went above and beyond to back their product... They sent us a whole new set since we had to throw away 1 tape measure that broke. Now we have extras and have had no other issues with them not working. The replacement set they sent even had a hand written note included! I like how it shows the fractions for the small increments - nice for those learning about measuring and fractions. It works well, and the tape goes out and in smoothly. The only issue I have with these is the rubber button on the side that you hold down to keep the tape temporarily out. It is not connected to the plastic side in any way, and it sometimes falls out (especially with my 3 year old playing with the tape measure). One time while measuring something, he pushed the button and it fell INSIDE the tape measure. The tape wouldn't retract and we couldn't retrieve the button, so we had to throw the whole thing away.

Originally I wanted to order just one ruler to give to my grandson since the fractions are printed right on the ruler. This makes it a terrific teaching aid showing how to read a ruler. I have found that reading a ruler is like riding a bicycle. You never forget how to read it but you do get rusty. When I used a ruler all the time building things I read it instinctively. Now I find myself counting the graduations. This ruler makes it simple to read. I couldn’t order just one but now I wish I had 6. This ruler is as handy as advertised. It is small, light weight and is 10 feet long. Not only does it lock but it also has a button to temporarily hold the rule while you read it. Once again Home Planet Gear has a very well designed product that makes sense and works well. Every one of their products shares the same qualities. They are well made, well designed, and just make sense. If it is made by Home Planet Gear, I know I can trust it.

I have a harder time finding them than I do the yellow ones, but for the price, I can put them all over the place. 10-foot tapes are great when you don't need a 50-foot one. 1/32" scale on the bottom edge and 1/8-inch on the top, so the print is crowded. End tab moves for accurate push/pull readings. Convenient Hold button on the side and lock slide on the top. Really small wrist straps for... I have no idea why they have wrist straps. There are belt clips on the side.

Update April 2025Cannot believe bought these 7 years ago. Used periodically in industrial environment for verifying cut lengths of materials to 1/16". Springs have not gone bad, the end tabs not broken off. Been dropped, kicked and abused over the years. The only ones we do not use are the ones that got lost (accidentally swept off bench into garbage can or lost behind equipment). I recall we did get one dude way back when, but seller replaced ASAP with apology. They do not appear to be super heavy duty, but indoor regular use plus being tossed around in drawers, benches and floor have held up well! Back to buy more!Original 2018 ReviewThe metal end tabs have not broken off like many others we've bought for the factory. Get used daily to measure flat products to size. On 2 of the units, the side push button stopped working, but it never really seemed to be all that great on any of the units. Spring retracts tape smoothly and quickly. Good for the price. Will buy again when need more.

We are always looking for a tape measure and when I found these I ordered a set of 3 and was greatly pleased with the quality, readability and usefulness of the tapes. The markings are all the ones you expect for woodworking and having a bunch of them really does make it easier to find one when you need it.All for a good price, too. Nice.

I have ordered these multiple times for the warehouse staff. They are small and light and the blue color makes them easy to find when they are abandoned in an odd location. I think this 3-pack is a great value is you do not need a 25ft or longer tape measurer.

I am ALWAYS running around looking for a tape measure., so when I saw a pack of three, I went for it. Because they were so inexpensive, I was worried that the products would be flimsy. But these are full on quality tape measures, small enough to tuck a few of them around the house but sturdy enough to do the job. My plumber even asked me where he could get one because they are also lightweight. I will be buying more because you know you can never have enough.

[EDIT]I've been using these for a few days and I keep getting more disappointed. The are flimsy, the tape is too thin to stay in place. The metal end isn't magnetic. And I had hoped that the locking mechanism would loosen in use. It hasn't. I'm back online to buy new tape measures.[ORIGINAL REVIEW]These remind me of the old saying, "You get what you pay for." Yes, at this price it's a bargain. But they aren't great quality.The worst for me is that the locking mechanism is very hard to push to lock. Not good for a small woman's older hands. The tape doesn't snap back as well as you would like.Don't get these if you are a professional who needs to measure over and over. Get them if you need one quick measurement.
