I have actually enjoyed reading this book
I had to get this book for graduate level abnormal psych. Most of my books for graduate school have been very dry and, well, not what I would call pleasurable reading. However, I have actually enjoyed reading this book. The tone is conversational and slightly humorous in a bad dad joke way but I love it. But the information incredibly useful for mental health counselors that are just learning diagnosis. I have used his tables for the class vignettes every time. He does gripe on a bit about the new DSM-5 when it comes to certain disorders but everyone is entitled to their opinion.

Open like my differentials!
Diagnosis has not been easy to learn... but now it is! Book is helpful, use to augment the DSM-5. Also check out the DSM-5 Made Easy, well written and helpful.

It’s a book for mental health diagnoses
It’s written in an interesting, easy to follow format. Clearly, psychological diagnoses are what they are. This is a book for grad students or psychologists. The layperson will get nothing out of it.

A Must Have!
Not only does this book review and explain the DSM-5 diagnoses, it also adds practical hands-on advice that one can only get from experience! Thank goodness professionals like Morrison are willing to share their observations and information gathered from the front lines with those of us who are just starting! I have used this book in my Master Program for Counseling, and I am sure it will follow me through my practicum, internship, and on to private practice! I highly recommend!

Very simple in understanding how to diagnose clients. It is not full of words that you have to look up to see what they mean and this makes it a good readable book and easy to understand. It is a great book to have and use often.

Easy read
Bought this for a “clinical interviewing” class I didn’t need to take but kept the book because it’s valuable for use outside in the field.
