Love Rootflage
Only product I have found close enough to match my red hair. There are so many shades of red and when it comes to finding products to match its impossible because it is always so limited. This matches perfectly and gets me to my next root touch up appointment with my stylist. It also works as a dry shampoo. I like to buy like 3 and put them in a jar and then apply it with a powder brush because I admit it can get messy on your floor or sink when you apply it.

Terrific root powder!
I like this is a loose powder and easier to fill the applicator. Also, it is a true white which is so pretty. Really like this to cover my thin spots.

The Ice House color has no pigment
I was really hoping this product would work for me, but it was a big fail. Some history: I’ve tried and loved Joan Rivers Great Hair Day in light blonde, and the Irene Gari Fill in powder in light brown (believe it or not, those two colors are almost identical and the price of the latter is a fraction of the Great Hair Day price). However, I’m letting my hair go grey, and it’s almost white in front, so I thought I’d tried this Rootflage product in Ice House to fill in the thin spots on the top and sides of my head. There is no pigment at all that color; I could have brushed on corn starch and had the same result. It’s my first Amazon return in 20 years and I have to say the customer service was great. Just an hour after I dropped the package with the prepaid postage label at my neighborhood UPS store I received an email that my refund was being processed. The Irene Gari Fill in powder isn’t available in white, so I guess I’ll just pay the higher price of the Great Hair Day, which is.One more note for those looking at these kinds of products...I had no luck at all with Dermmatch (purchased directly through them). It’s not powdery like the other products I’ve mentioned, but is hard, and you have to use a wet applicator to apply. I could get a ton of it to come off on a white washcloth but not a bit of it to come off on my scalp regardless of what technique I tried.

I can work with this
I was super excited to receive this today and immediately opened it to experiment on my wretched pandemic hair. I have dirty blonde hair that my colorist makes vibrant copper (normally every 5 weeks). I won’t be able to see him until June and I was looking for something to tide me over. This will work but it takes some customization and patience. You know how there’s no such thing as a free lunch or a magic bullet? That’s the story here too. Like most things, you have to be persistent and patient to get the result you want. This is a powder. It is not going to have much gripping power on clean dry hair. What I found was that if I used a spray root cover product in a shade *close* to what I need (many of them are just too dark or too red and they look obvious when applied on the root) and apply gradual layers of this on top it looks more natural. It still isn’t perfect. But it is passable and better than just my natural grown out root. Let it be known, we should all appreciate your colorists for coming up with beautiful, rich, custom blended color formulas that are unique to us BTW! No wonder it’s hard to match! If you are one of those people that wants simplicity and ease when it comes to your grooming and beauty rituals, this won’t be for you. It takes a bit of creative manipulating. If you are willing to play with it and have multiple root cover products (more likely if you have red hair since those shades will be harder to match), go for it! I’m attaching an example photo of my hair color so you have some idea. I ordered Bright copper in the Rootflage and I used a separate spray in that Amazon doesn’t carry. Try Style Edit root concealing Spray. You *might* be able to use dry shampoo for dark tones if you have a natural root that is darker or cooler than the tone you dye your hair but I haven’t tried that yet. You’d have to work the powder in on top quickly, though before it dries. Same with hairspray or you could try spraying hair spray on top. Some have commented that it’s such a small pot of product for the money. Yes and no—I think it ends up going pretty far considering you don’t use that much at a time. Should last a while. Hope that helps!

Rootflage Cool Blonde
Great product. I use for touch ups in between colors. I started using this during Covid when the salons were closed. It was a miracle for me!! I’ve been using ever since.

be realistic about what is possible from powder
I have about 50% silvery gray hair (I think, but really who knows as I've not seen more than a fraction of an inch in decades). Since I dye my hair a 7.5 copper red gold the re-growth is quite visible. Due to international travel, I wasn't going to be able to get a prompt touch up so I ordered some of this. The pros, this will cover up enough for a quick passer by not to notice anything amiss. It will not, however, hold up to close scrutiny. Firstly, the color inevitably will not match yours precisely. Secondly, no matter how carefully applied (and what worked best was to have SOMEONE ELSE APPLY with a dense eye shadow brush which picked up a lot of product but delivered it to a precise location) my scalp turned red. The overlap of the powder with the already colored part created an ever more visible line as well. I realized in all the "how to" videos the users were all sort of "fluffing" their hair line up and I now realize why! I went with a messy pony tail myself. IDK how people are using this for extra WEEKS between hair colors, but for a week maybe OK so long as you aren't going to be seated with a bunch of people walking by looking at the top of your head! Pic shows partial completion for comparison.
