Not real rope, it's flat compressed ribbon.
The fluffy real rope can be found on Amazon. Look for the Dynarex DynaGinate rope dressing. This tape stuff is like alginate pad dressing just very long and narrow. Must be good for something.

Excellent Choice for Small to Medium Dermal Wounds
This product is an excellent choice for small to medium dermal wounds. For those who have stumbled upon this product and aren't sure about it, allow me to explain.Alginate is a fancy word for a simple but potent ingredient that is produced from brown seaweed. Calcium alginate has been used in wound dressings for decades because it can help speed up the healing process and cuts down on the pain. This is by no means a miracle cure or a substitute for a medical professional's advice, but these wound dressings are rather impressive when it comes to wound care and the healing process. They are especially helpful when it comes to burns and diabetic ulcers of the feet.It is in the form of a "rope" so it can help treat deep wounds. With that said, these ones in particular would be best for small to medium size wounds. It is very absorbent, and calcium alginate jump starts the healing process, making for a quicker and much more efficient recovery. All in all, I highly recommend for those in need of a wound recovery product, as well as those seeking additional, practical supplies to build an adequate first aid kit. You won't regret it!

A Solid Mid-Range Option for Wound Dressings
I ordered and received this Med Pride Calcium Alginate Rope Dressings. The box contains 5 dressings. The dressings are 2cm x 30cm. This makes sense, of course, since it is styled like a rope. These are small dressings for small wound areas. The dressings are individually wrapped, sterile, and single use only. The dressings are easy to apply to a wound. The instructions indicate to apply the dressing to the wound area and hold gently in place for several seconds to approve the adhesion. I have found that holding it in place for several seconds is essential otherwise it is a little loose.I tend to respond well to Calcium Alginate dressings and find these to be a solid option for smaller areas and for lighter use. These would be ideal for hard to reach areas or for that certain spot that needs to be protected. I'm using these dressings on a small area that is adjacent to a larger wound. These work well with the smaller area. These are made in China for a US-based manufacturer and are nicely wrapped, durable, and are a solid value in terms of pricing. While I'm not sure I can call them top of the line wound dressings, I would use them again as they offer solid wound care at a fair price and are ideal for certain situations. However, for larger wounds or heavily draining wounds they wouldn't likely be effective.

It closed up my 2 week wound
I have a small but deep puncture wound that was struggling to close up... I tried a different packing strip from the store but it didn't work as well. I gave this a try with a secondary gauze covering and it closed up my wound in 3 days when I expected it not to heal for another week or two.The only complaint is that it didn't adhere to my wound or skin under the gauze, it was shifting around so I had to put a piece of tape over the strip under the secondary gauze. Otherwise, it soaked up some fluids and protected the wound pretty well as the wound closes, I didn't need the secondary gauze anymore.
