Great scent free detergent, the only kind we use in our home. We believe that there is no need for dyes or perfumes in our detergent.

I have some pretty severe allergy and especially, at times, contact dermatitis. I had to avoid Tide for decades because it was one of the primary allergens that triggered this reaction in my skin. Thankfully, they developed this into a formula that works well for me. I can't promise you won't have a reaction but I use this on towels, sheets, and undergarments and so far, I have been issue-free. With regard to the pricing, I agree that Amazon's word choice on a lot of these products is misleading. It has happened to me a dozen times, at least, that I thought I would be receiving significantly more product than arrived. However, on this particular deal, I still find it to be good for the price when it is on coupon special. The coupon amount, combined with Amazon Mom Subscribe & Save discounts, make this $1 less per bottle than the cost in my local store. This is delivered to my door so it also saves time/money to drive out to the store to pick up new detergent. That's a big deal to me at this stage in my life. My advice is to watch the sales. They have been sharing coupons fairly regularly and I have had no problems picking this up at a great price multiple times over the summer.

We have a top-loading washer that specifies HE detergent. I wash four loads ever two weeks: (1-2) Cottons and blends (t-shirts, jeans, sweat-shirts, wool-blend socks in warm water, two loads; (3) Towels and sheets and cotton underwear in hot water; (4) Synthetics (mostly polyester shirts) and printed t-shirts in cold water. Yes, I am a creature of habit! I also react badly to perfumes, and I have eczema, so I try to use products that are kind to my skin and respiratory system. I do not get my clothes very dirty, although I do spill thongs on myself a little too often. But I wouldn't say that washing my clothes clean is a special challenge for a detergent. I do have to use a spot-cleaner on stains, but otherwise this detergent does the job admirably. Everything gets clean, and after washing pretty much the same set of clothes the same way using this stuff for a couple of years, there is no indication that there's any build-up of dirt, or discoloration, or any other downside to its continued use. So for me, I don't see how it could be any better.

Due to my allergies and both my husband's and mine dislike of unscented laundry, I switched to the unscented detergents when they first became available. When I purchased an HE front-loader several years ago, I needed to change detergent varieties. After research, I started purchasing Tide Free and Gentle High Efficiency Unscented detergent. It does a good job cleaning, doesn't leave any additional odor on our laundry, and doesn't irritate my skin. When I first got my washer, the Tide HE Free was sometimes hard to find, so I used Amazon to make sure that I always had a supply. I currently purchase the 150 oz bottles when local stores run really good sales and store them in the pedestal drawer under the washer. It would be nice if the large bottles were available on Subscribe and Save, but it probably is too expensive to ship.

I choose this product for its price and quality. Price: At local stores, the average is a few dollars higher. Given the fact that my wife's new washer requires the HE detergent, this is a no brainer. Pick Subscribe and Save to get the consistent discount, or watch for ongoing digital coupons for this item. Quality: Unscented is the only way to go for our family. I've tried others 'flavors' but most of them are saturated with perfume and other chemicals. At least (maybe it's just the perception) that an unscented one has least of amount of chemicals. Someone can validate that for me?? Personally, I highly recommend it. P.S. The size of these 50 ounce bottles fits just right underneath the washer (stands drawer). I had the larger size before and they won't fit standing up.
