Complex. Satisfying. Ethical.
The reveal comes late in the book, and I wish I had known earlier the source of the MC's post-traumatic stress. But like Ashley, the author takes her time revealing the abuse. That time is well spent with other plot lines involving everything from supportive lesbian friendship circles, skillful psychotherapy, and poignant rescue greyhounds to brilliant investigative reporting of a dirty property tax scheme. McGregor provides a fascinating look inside the world of hair salons and network TV news, deftly linked by Gershwin's "Rhapsody in Blue." I appreciate that the characters communicate with honesty and kindness. It's a riveting lesbian romance in which respect, patience, and transparency win the day. This is my first KG McGregor novel; I'm delighted to know there are many more!

This is not a bad book but not her best.
I have been a fan of Ms MacGregor for years and found this book so far removed from her usual style of writing that I was disappointed. It is long winded almost to the point of being tedious.Brevity is not just the soul of wit but a talent that is to be envied if the writer can pull it off. Ms MacGregor has always been able to do that in the past. Her characters have always been rich and her books descriptive enough for anyone with or without an imagination to get the picture. She has never needed to be long winded because she has the talent and ability of a gifted writer to get the story across without the need for superfluous words and sentences. This book could have gone so much further but I think that Ms MacGregor was so exhausted trying to be a different writer to impress her editor that she didn't so much end the book as run out of steam.Does not Ms MacGregor realise that the pedestal she has placed her editor on should also be wide enough to hold her as well? Please remove those rose-coloured sunglasses Ms MacGregor and see yourself as the talented writer you are and know that you do not need to change.I think the editor needs to stand back a bit and encourage the writer, not smother her talent beyond recognition.

Enjoyable, Appealing Characters Who You Root For.
Rhapsody is another great KG MacGregor novel. It really is. I liked the pairing of this couple - they had rapport, chemistry and were different enough to make the novel really interesting. I also enjoyed the setting (tv news vs. salon) and the manner in which the women met and encountered one another. It was realistic and thereby easy to get on board with them. Like other reviewers, I did kind of wish we got to see Ashely's journey play out a little more. We kind of left her hanging a bit, which was clearly intentional and an author choice. Thereby, I can respect it. However, on a personal level, I missed getting to see her resolution. (But I get it...) I still really enjoyed the read and think you should buy this book. :) Go ahead, do it.

Needs a sequel but still a good read
I enjoyed this book very much but I felt it ended before Julia and Ashley's relationship was completely developed. When I finish a book I want to feel confident in the relationship and I didn't feel that here. This book left me needing a sequel. Please give me a sequel because I need to see Ashley's progression dealing with her demons (can't say what the demons are since that's a spoiler).

Enjoyed and would recommend
With protagonist Ashley Giraud KG MacGregor has created one of my favourite characters in this genre. She is fully fleshed out and developed, and very easy to empathize with. The novel is interesting and draws you in, the other characters are all well drawn, and the read is easy but not uncomplicated. I enjoyed it quite a lot.

RHAPSODY BY KG MACGREGOR
ONCE INTO THE CHARACTERS IT KEPT ME WONDERING AND WAITING FOR THE NEXT SERIES OF EVENTS. AS I SAID ONCE I GOT INTO THE CHARACTERS. IT WAS DIFFICULT TO IDENTIFY IN THE VERY BEGINNING WHERE EVERYONE WAS COMING ROOM. THE MAIN CHARACTER WAS CLEAR, BUT THE OTHERS I HAD TO GO BACK AND IDENTIFY.

In Depth Character Study
Definitely not your usual lesfic fare. The women don't jump in bed right away, even if you know where the story is headed. The main character has some serious demons to overcome and the book portrays her struggle quite realistically as she struggles to trust and love someone. Yet still a romance. Worth a read.

Excellent character development
KG MacGregor never disappoints. This is one of her best. She delves deep into the emotional trauma of one character as she struggles to maintain her professional persona while exploring new personal interactions. Great read!

WOW - what a great book
I have now read about half of KG's book and have loved them all. She is refreshingly original in her stories, not formulaic like so many other romance writers. And this book is different. No U-HAUL in site, no raunchy sex, but an amazingly insightful and wonderfully romantic tale of how love and perseverance can make a relationship work in the face of huge emotional issues.Amazing story, highly emotive characters, interesting sub-plots and an insightful portrayal of how "baggage" can make somebody fight to resist what they so desperately want.Dont expect a book full of hot and steamy - although it has its moments - but this is a great read and more than a step above the standard lesbian romance.

Another difficult subject met head on
This is a powerfully written book that deals with a very difficult subject area. if you are looking for lesbian erotica this is not for you. This book deals with building a relationship based on friendship and trust. I really like this author as she never shrinks from tough issues. I found the story thought provoking but still enjoyed it.

I'm a bit disappointed :-(
Have read all of her books and totally loved them but this one was so different. Struggled with the beginning and could have given up but I really started to like it half way through and then it just ended! Feel there should have been another quarter to the book - did she just run out of steam?
