Rahel has done a most commendable job in assembling the first in her series of books for those English-speakers wanting to learn the dialect of Swiss German. If you are like me, someone who can't absorb a foreign language simply through oral immersion, this young author has converted a spoken-only language into a visual, written form from which she builds vocabulary, sentence structure and grammar. Without knowledge of Standard German, one should be prepared for a little bit of a tough ride in grasping, for example, akkusativ or dativ forms. I do believe, however, that what shortcomings a student might have, Rahel will be there supporting him/her in every way possible. By the end of the 1st book, one begins to feel the rhythm of the language, to recognize words and phrases overheard on the street, and to become enthusiastically confident that it will all come together sooner rather than later. This book and those which will follow offer us stepping stones in learning Swiss German , but achievements come only with hard work and having someone helping you along the way. Therefore, it is important to note that this book goes hand-in-hand with classes which Rahel offers online, both for groups and individuals. If you are serious, work hard, do your homework, and come to your lessons prepared, you will be pleased how quickly you'll begin to absorb the basics. Rahel is an amazingly talented instructor, and I truly am grateful to have found her and have had the opportunity to learn from her.

Nice book

This book makes learning Swiss German easier and I found it, the best book in the market so far to learn the language faster.With its straightforward method and well thoughts exercises, I was able to progress rapidly and get confidence to use Swiss German in my daily life.This led me to contact the author and take excellent lessons with her. After several lessons, I appreciated her great pedagogic approach for a non-native speaker like me and highly recommended her to any person.

Rahel Roth's "Swiss German for English Speakers" is a great resource for anyone learning Swiss German. The book is methodical and well-structured, covering all the most important aspects of the language. There are plenty of exercises to practice and reinforce the grammatical concepts.Aside from the coursebook itself, you also gain access to recordings, Quizlet sets, and more. As a German language teacher, I am so pleased to have found this resource, and I will be recommending it if I ever get students who would also like to learn Swiss German.

I like that you can listen to audio by scanning the codes in the book, and its a good language learning book in general and not just a phrasebook
