The Torah: The Five Books of Moses, the New Translation of the Holy Scriptures According to the Traditional Hebrew Text

My large Hebrew Study Bible is daunting, with thin pages and endless explanations on side columns, and not something I can read when I'm eating, which is a bad habit I have. This book, however, is perfect in every way. Unfamiliar with it because I was raised Catholic, but wanting to know what I was missing (because Catholicism is based on Judaism), I found it easy to understand and packed with insight. If all youngsters (say, in junior high school) had to read just these 5 chapters, I think the fear of God they'd feel would result in better behavior throughout America. I love it and it has replaced any NT books I might have had.

Worth buying.

Even though very small it is easy to read. I wanted something I could travel with and not take up much room.

My husband asked me to buy this book for his Birthday. He wanted it - out of the blue. It was an odd request, because we are Protestant, and he said he wanted it to study and read to learn the differences of it and our Christian Bible. In his review of it, he said the Torah is almost identical to the KJV. I haven’t read it yet, but am interested in learning the differences as well. He seemed happy with it. He rarely lets me get him anything for birthday and Christmas, so I was happy to buy him something he actually wanted.

What's there not to love about this fine book? Well, okay, it's not exactly pocket sized but you can carry it around without much fuss. It's written very clearly and the text is nice print for the overall size of the book. There are better, more elaborate Torah's out there but this one will do in a pinch.

A Christian recommended the Torah, and I'm glad to have it in the library. It's an incredibly important work and easy to read.

having it written in English is beyond helpful as I am just learning and want the correct translations so as to be able to follow in worship or service. For me it was helpful that the comfort of what I was known to and about there also and spoken of. I love this second edition and the care gone into throughout the preface. Thank you so much

I like the way the scriptures read like a story instead of being subdivided so much as in various versions of the Bible. And I appreciate that the people who put this version of the Torah together, have taken as much care as possible to base it on the traditional Hebrew texts. The print is easy to read. Handy size to fit in a handbag. Well worth buying.
