The book is perfect. The binding, page quality, cover, and most importantly, the content. The book manages to cover the vast history of English literature in a concise manner. The language used is simple to read, yet not boring. The ideologies of writers have been illustrated in great detail, which serves to understand their literary works better.Quotations have been provided in an ample amount.Overall, a must buy if you wish to have a significant knowledge of English literature's history.

How is this book different to other books on the very topic?Well, this book tries to cover the literary history till the early 2000s and the others fail to do so.The book is published by Routledge. It obviously is a good choice for someone who wants to have a little more than just an introduction.I purchased the 3rd edition. The pages are white and the font size is descent. There is a good amount of space between lines.But be informed that this is not the ultimate book which covers everything out there. It's a mere 605 pages book including the index.Delivery:The book was delivered inside a cardboard box and it wasn't even bubble wrapped. It could've easily gotten bumped & damaged during the transit. So, deducting a star for it.

It's the best book in the market for the history of English literature. If you are here thinking whether you should buy it for your NET/JRF, just go for it. The pages are clear and the text is well written.
