1st Place Chalk & Wax Pure Bristle Brushes - Hand Made - Complete Set (3 Brushes)

I used these with Annie Sloan Chalk Paint (in the color Graphite) and Clear Wax. They performed great. There was a little shedding at first, but they stopped after loosing about 10 bristles each. Of course, I would have preferred to use real Annie Sloan brushes but for the price, these were a great deal and still worked well.I used the smallest, oval edged brush to apply the Clear Wax. I buffed it in with a clean, lint-free rag I made from an old t-shirt. It was great for getting into grooves of the table and chair legs. Tip: If you only need to wax a flat surface such as a dresser, a brush isn't necessary. You can do with just a rag.The flat tipped brushes were used to apply the paint. As you can see in the pics, my table is HUGE. I used the bigger brush to apply the paint to the table top but then ended up using a larger bristle haired flat brush I had lying around to achieve the smoother stroke effect. The brush in this kit works great, it's just a bit small for such a large surface.

Really nice brushes. Well made and sturdy. Nice sized handles to hold on to. Chalk paint cleans out of the brushes easily using cold water. Just as an aside, when cleaning the brushes, if the leather straps on each of the brush handles get wet the leather tanning color does run. So you might want to place the entire brush length on paper towels to dry so the tanning color won't stain countertops, etc. I have used two of the brushes on just one project so far but I think these brushes will be around to use for many future projects to come.

This is a great brush at a fraction of the cost. It painted smoothly and the handle was a good size for painting chair rails. I only gave it four stars because a few of the bristles came off while I was painting.

I am in love with this paint!! It is super easy to use, and I watched their tutorials online, because I am not a painter! I have applied three coats so far, the paint brushes recommended were great tools. I painted over cherry wood cabinets, I used antique white. I then took some sand paper and scraped the edges of the doors and crevaces and went over them with polyurethane instead of wax, mostly because they are bathroom cabinets and high traffic areas, I used a semi gloss to keep the original chalk look! I love it! I am not finished but when I do I will post before and after photos!

These brushes are perfect, I have used them all on small, and large projects. Minimal bristle loss, clean up great and they give perfect coverage. They are just as good as the more pricier brushes but for a much better price. They arrive right on time and are packaged very well. I will definitely order these again when I need them.

The brushes are OK.. They tend to fan out a little when whey are dry so that means they aren't as great painting edges as the other 2 that I have. I"m used to brushes that look just like these in the picture when they are dry and these do not. I think the large one would be better if it was tapered more on the ends.

Perhaps this does not exactly measure up to the quality of Annie Sloan brush but it’s pretty darn close. It’s a great set for the money. It lost a few hairs early on but that has since stopped. Not using hot water to clean brushes and allowing them to dry lying horizontal off the edge of a surface helps with this. One word of caution... they do smell a bit like “wet dog” for the first several uses... but I got over it!

I bought this set to use with Annie Sloane chalk paint. I previously used cheap chip brushes from craft store on smaller projects but was ready to move on to better brushes- This set is made beautifully- love the handles and the asst sizes. Per the instructions pre- wash the brushes for use. this will eliminate any loose bristles. I used them for applying chalk paint wax and chalk paint. Good sizes for the project . Came packed nicely with no damage.

I like the variety of the 3 brushes for chalk paint and waxing. Quality is good too.

The brushes arrived quickly so postage was good, they are all smaller than I was expecting them to be ... not the best for a large area but fine for smaller projects. 7/10
