Great first hobby grade RC truggy!
I like RC cars and trucks. I especially like the off-road kind. I have a nice little collection going. I hook up with friends and we have little races in nearby open areas with different scale rigs. This 1:18th scale 'Sandy Land' off road truggy competes well with other makes of the same class. Keeping with how it is 'factory equipped', it's as good as any other out there, at a competitive price. It's power train is a brushed motor, closed main drive and simple spring suspension. The entire drive train is fairly universal in many vehicles this scale and is easily 'upgraded' to better components. This is essential to being called 'hobby grade'. Toys are just that. Toys cannot be upgraded and when they break, that's it. They're done. The Sandy Land is more than a toy.The controller is basic and also universal. It can probably be paired with other RC's on the same frequency. It has good response and controls the vehicle as well as any other in this class. The reverse is sluggish. But, this is common. The trims are well defined. Speed can be easily adjusted from crawl to 'rocket'. Rocket being top speed, this guy is really fast and POWERRFUL. The brushed motor provides ample power. The servo motor is well built, very strong and precise. The steering control is very touchy. But, with experience, I've been able to manage directional control very well. The shocks are simple spring over plastic. They can be stiffened and heightened by changing the mounting positions on both the frame and the swing arm. There are oil capped shock upgrades available. The frame is the typical polycarbonate type, with front end protection, but not rear. Hitting things head on, the body shell is protected. But, from behind, the body is exposed. The transaxles are steel, but the hubs are plastic. The hubs can be upgraded to metal. Another step in upgrades that are part of being a hobby grade vehicle, along with going to a brushless motor, new controller system, etc.I noticed that there are two accessory ports on the main board of the truck. These are for lighting, should you choose to add it. I don't know if either of these ports are potentiometer regulated, like for brake lights. But, if you wanted to add headlights and Baja lights, you have a power source. For a trial run, I took the Sandy Land out in my back yard. (Hence, all of the thatch in the pictures.) For a RC this size, it did VERY well. The brushed motor and drive train proved very powerful. I am looking forward to putting this little guy up against others in it's class in my collection.I really like the QFC Sandy Land and can honestly say that it's a great little RC and worth the money.

Impressed
I am impressed with the quality of this rc truck. I wanted to give my 10 year old a chance to play with RC cars without spending a ton of money on a high end car and controller. So i bought this one as it fit the price limit i set for myself. I was very pleased that it exceeded my expectations. It is very easy to get going. The truck is really fast, has both forward and reverse, as well as steering trim. You can adjust the speed sensitivity so that learning to drive it is easier. But open it up and you can drift, jump, skid turn, etc. It will go through short grass and will do moderate rock climbing. The battery life is fantastic. At full out we ran at least 30 minutes before a battery swap was necessary. And it came with two batteries. The only complaint is the controller uses standard AA batts. And if you forget to turn it off they drain. A rechargable controller would have been a plus. But other then that this was a great buy and my son loves it. We are going to set up a track in the back yard now as his friends have RC cars and they want a racetrack. i definately recommend this truck as a good starter RC car for a child before you spend hundreds of dollars on the big ones. you wont be disappointed.

Very impressed!
I have been very impressed with the design and build quality of this R/C vehicle. I purchased it for my 6 year old grandson and it is SO much better than the last R/C car that he had -- this one not only goes much faster and has much better quality build components, but it also comes with a remote control that is far more intuitive than the cheap twin stick design and the controls (steering and speed) seem to be truly proportional making it so much easier to control the car. Obviously it's not on the same level as a $600 vehicle, but I don't know of any other vehicle under $200 that is at this level -- I'm talking parts quality, speed and controllability. It's a blast to operate (it goes great in the dirt, lawn, street, etc.) and I might even love it more than my grandson!

Fun for adults as well!
Pros:Speed! This thing is fast! Also, I love how you can adjust the speed with the dial on the remote (see picture). This allowed me to dial it down for my 6-year old son to drive it without losing control.ResponsiveDurable (we’ve taken it off road and flipped a few times)Good battery life (comes with two as well)Cons:Smaller than expected. The smaller size makes off-roading a bit more bouncy and difficult to control in rougher terrain.Clips for the body came off easily. Luckily it comes with extra clipsThe body of the truck looked like it was smashed (see pictures) but it didn’t affect the function so no big deal.Overall I thought it was a good value. We have only had it since Christmas so longevity is yet to be determined.

Leagues better than cheapo RC cars for only a little more money
I bought this for my nephew but of ourse I had to play with it first. It's a true all terrain RC car with AWD, rubber tires with deep treads, and real shock absorbers. I've taken it outside and it literally runs circles around my yard and kicks up leaves in its wake. I've jumped it off small mulch piles and it holds up and goes FAST. You can turn the power down on the remote for indoor use and still have a ton of fun. Steering is super responsive. The battery lasts an average amount of time, but it comes with two and are easy to swap out.My only gripe is the clips that hold the body onto the chassis (which is only for aesthetics) fall out super easily. They provide extras, but I feel those will be gone too in a matter of days. Still, you don't really need the body and you could use a paper clip or something in a pinch.
