At the widest part of her hips she is 7.5 inches.

Moana's hair is sewn into plastic packaging how did you all take it out without ruining her hair

I just clipped the sewn threads carefully. Clip a few and pull the plastic away as the threads loosen. I hate removing dolls from packaging these days, it's ridiculous. Just take your time. Her hair was a pain to comb out. Start at the bottom and work your way up about at a time in sections.
