First shop around first. I checked around locally, most places only push 10 gauge thats miss poor. If you ever jump someone's car And couldn't because of the angle?? Or that other terminal couldn't connect because the clamps needed spreader more.Gauge, lenth are great don't forget these cables can tackle commercial equipment as well worth the extra $20 . My opinion safer, less Change of damage to either vehicle , because there thicker gauge wire great length. For the average person on occasional use yea most likely over kill. Excellent for emergency Roadside company. Bottom line peace of mind.

Great cables, as advertised, and, excellent price point for the value.However I suggest crimping the wire into the clamps, which surprisingly was not done at the factory. this will reduce stress on the wires connection to the clamps thereby extending the life of the product.Just pull back the rubber on the clamp to expose the end where the cable is connected and fold over the flaps to properly grip the cable. then replace the rubber covers. Simple and easy, I used vise grips but any large pair of pliers with a curved inset should do.
