Exceeded my expectations
I was delighted after unboxing and wearing the Armitron Rubik. Typically, at this price point, you're looking at a plastic or resin case with a flimsy strap. However, this watch feels much more premium compared to a similar-priced Casio. The case is made entirely of stainless steel, and the bracelet is impressively good. The finishing is quite decent, with consistent brushing on both the case and bracelet. Fortunately, the watch is not prone to scratches or fingerprints. In terms of functionality, it includes an alarm, stopwatch, and a second time zone. You can also set it to chime every hour, which I find quite handy. The display is clear and easy to read. My only gripe is the backlight, which is practically useless, as many reviewers have noted. However, this isn't a deal breaker for me. I would rate this watch 4.5 stars (rounded up to 5).

So much fun
Classic style digital time piece. If you enjoy the old metal squares of the 80’s you’ll really enjoy these. They feel stronger and more substantial since it’s a solid metal build. Does it have the greatest light for dark viewing? No but it looks and feels great, keeps excellent time and really add to the nostalgia factor. At such an easy price this is a no brainer. If you’re a fan of classic watches then grab one.

Excellent watch beyond competition
Excellent watch for its price! Glass is mineral, case is steel. Screen readability is not as good as Casio, but also at a fairly good level. Backlight is not bad, but the button is not always responsive and because of this sometimes flickering occurs and you need to press it again several times. Perhaps over time the button will become softer and the defect will be eliminated. I can recommend the watch for purchase.

What modern digital watches should be
Currently loving this watch. It's what I wish all of my Casios were. Stainless steel case, 50m water resistance, okay bracelet. I haven't even worn any of my significantly more expensive Swiss or Japanese automatics since getting this watch. After about a week the bracelet quit pulling the copious amounts of hair on my 7.5" wrist. I'm not sure why because the bracelet couldn't have broken in that quickly but regardless, doesn't pull hair like all of my Casios. I wish the bracelet had a bit more taper for aesthetics but the look is growing on me. I've only tested water resistance at very shallow depths but have had zero issues. Going to buy a second one just to have as a spare in case I lose this one. Great move by Armitron releasing a small retro digital that actually has a steel case, and it costs less than a dinner. I wish the rest of the watch industry would follow suit. Couldn't be happier with it.

Ok for the price.
This is a fairly nice retro 80's style watch. It could use a couple of improvements. First of all I love the style and colors used. Silver, blue and black looks very nice together. The watch band as I would call it, is a band because it is not enclosed like a typical watch bracelet which would be one continuous piece. Is made of folded steel and is fairly thin and lightweight obviously to save money. At least it is not that plated garbage that many cheap watches use that looks like molded plastic. So you overlap one side of the band and has a hook system that presses on with a detent, it's very annoying to use. You basically have to pin the watch up against your thigh sitting down or similar method in order to overlap the band and then press the hook in place. They should put five bucks more into the r&d and production give us a real bracelet. Second of all, I would put another five bucks into r&d and production and make the back light actually functional. When you press the backlight button there is one dim light that lights up only on the left side and you cannot read the display in pitch black conditions, you can only make out the hour. Other than that let's watch is great. I would gladly pay $40 instead of 30 for a watch with the improvements I just recommended. The display is easy to read and the buttons, well, all work as intended. This only makes me curious to the quality of the Casio and Timex competitors at the same $30 price range for the same type of '80s vintage watch. But I guess I won't find out because I only need one 80's style vintage watch so this is it. So would I buy this again knowing the two things I dislike? I have to say I would because I just love the black, blue and gray.

The 1980s rule
For $27 or so, how can you go wrong? It’s a fun, digital throwback. It’s easy to use, it’s stainless steel, keeps good time and makes me want to watch Back to the Future. Only negative: the light is poor. Almost unusable. But that’s ok. Fun addition to a collection.

Great 80s retro at a great price
Considering the case is stainless steel, this is a bargain for the price compared to similarly built digitals on the market elsewhere. It is on the small size (unisex definitely) and unremarkable in many ways - so not overtly retro looking like the Griffy.. But it does the job it's meant to and has the vintage look to it. Downsides - The backlight is useless. Maybe the case could be bigger and it could do with a countdown timer for the gym, cooking and whatnot.
