Asaga Dies
Asaga dies at the end of this one. Sad, huh? Yup. Good book though. I loved when Nemesis Q turned out to be Matsuri in disguise.

(4.5 STARS) More Adventures, More Memories
The second round of the deadly "Psyren" game continues. A huge flesh-eating worm is still prowling out there, but what is more troublesome is the mysterious hunter who confronts the five remaining Psyren players: Ageha Yoshina, Sakurako Amamiya, Hiryu Asaga, Oboro Mochizuki and Kabuto Kirisaki. The strange man with a high-powered rifle (that can destroy a building) seems very hostile, waiting for the chance to kill them all, but Hiryu Asaga recognizes the assassin's face. The third volume of Toshiaki Iwashiro's comic "Psyren" keeps us thrilled and entertained as ever, with well-drawn action sequences and credible characters. The comic's pace gets a little slower with a few flashbacks about Hiryu's childhood memories, which are touching, though they do not push the story ahead. The third volume spends considerable pages on letting us know the characters including Hiryu and Oboro, a 21-year-old popular actor back in the original world, who shows what he can do. The idea of a team of characters with super-human powers is nothing new (Marvel Comic's "X-Men" and Shotaro Ishinomori's "Cyborg 009" both date back to the 1960s), but with likable characters and occasional jokes, the third volume of "Psyren" never lets up.Probably you can enjoy the entire series even if you start reading from this volume, of which story unfolds faster than that of the first one, but I strongly recommend you go back to the first book, which I think is more interesting with more mysteries to solve. Enjoy it.

"What's he doing here?"
Psyren takes place a carefully constructed world and its overarching plot continually builds chapter by chapter. Don't start here - it really must be read from the beginning.Ageha's second trip to Psyren has gone wrong fast, as his group finds themselves caught between a deadly monster and a powerful Psi-weilding Taboo. A Taboo that looks strangely familiar to Hiryu...The pace at which Iwashiro is organically increasing tension is incredible. Developments and twists feel natural and even the cliched elements that appear are used in unexpected ways. The expanding central cast is wonderfully diverse and quirky, particularly new addition Oboro. The dilemmas our protagonists face, the variety in Psi powers emerging, and the glimpses of the emerging bigger picture are all carefully detailed and instantly compelling. Key reveals are perfectly timed for maximum impact and leave quite an impression.Only three volumes in and I love the way everything's coming together in Psyren. This series could be something really special if it can keep this level up through to the end.

This was a great volume!
Wow this series keeps getting better and better! A lot of great stuff happens this volume and some great new characters introduced, and by the time you get to the end of the volume you wonder just what's going to happen now in #4! I'm so glad viz is publishing this manga here, we've got a lot of volumes left to go in this great series. Highly recommended especially if you like series like Bleach!
