James Taylor had scored eight Top 40 hits by the fall of 1976 when Warner Brothers marked the end of his contract with this compilation. One of those hits, the Top Ten gold single "Mockingbird," a duet with his wife Carly Simon, was on Elektra Records, part of the Warner family of labels and presumably available, but it was left off. "Long Ago and Far Away," a lesser hit (though it made the Top Ten on the easy listening charts), wasn't used either. In addition to the six hits - "Fire and Rain," "Country Road," "You've Got a Friend," "Don't Let Me Be Lonely Tonight," "How Sweet It Is (To Be Loved by You)," and "Shower the People" - that were included, the album featured a couple of less successful singles, "Mexico" and "Walking Man," the album track "Sweet Baby James," and three previously unreleased recordings - a live version of "Steamroller" and newly recorded versions of "Something in the Way She Moves" and "Carolina in My Mind," songs featured on Taylor's 1968 debut album, recorded for Apple/Capitol. This remains a good sampler of Taylor's more popular early work. Greatest Hits re-released on LP in 2013. Review: Great Album...As Long As It's Not Warped - I must admit I almost gave up on getting a good copy of this album, but on the 4th try I finally got a good one! The first 3 were all severely warped. I mean it had a huge warp that was noticeable as soon as you put on the turntable for a spin. This copy as a very small warp that doesn't effect the play or tracking...especially on the lead-in track. As far as sound this album is crystal clear! It's refreshing to hear a remastered record that has been done nicely and has a very even sound, The songs speak for themselves. Side one has the best songs James Taylor has ever recorded. I tend to favor it over side two. Don't get me wrong the 99% of side 2 are great...but James Taylor singing "Steam Roller Blues" just doesn't cut it for me. They could have left this track off and replaced it with another track from some of his first few albums (one that comes to mind is "Highway Song" which is fantastic song) an it would have made this a perfect record...at least for me. Some people may really like his version, but to me it's just not a good fit for him. Some singer's can sing variety of different style of music...but JT's voice just fits the singer/songwriter,...song's he writes or co-writes like a glove. That's the type of music he was made to compose and sing. "Mexico" is A favorite of mine on the "Gorilla" album from the mid '70s...one of his lesser played albums I'd say, To be honest, Mexico and "How Sweet It Is...are the only songs I like from that album. This is a must-have if you don't have his first six albums...and are a James Taylor fan. Review: Great album - Great album

Happy affordable
Purchased for son who just got a turntable for fun. Thought I’d introduce him to some good music from the 70s/80s. He said he’s enjoying it

great seller
I really can't review the album, album was taken from my post box :(, but the seller was very quick to reach out to postal service and get some information for me. Great customer service! Bet the album would have been great too.

One of my favorite albums.
This is one of my favorite albums of all time. It was one of two tapes allowed in our car growing up (along with Paul Simon's Graceland). The vinyl sounds rich and beautiful, and enhances the listening of this album. Highly recommend.

The best
This is the absolute best record to just sip a cocktail, relax and sing along to. There isn't a song on here I don't love.

Jean-Paul
