Great addition to diy lotions & creams!
I’ve always been aversed to using, what I considered to be, “chemical” additives in jmy homemade body lotions & creams because I believed them to be unhealthy & harmful to the human body. Recently though, I’ve decided to research some of the additives that are commonly used in most all body lotions & creams that are on the market these days. And to my great surprise, I’ve learned that some of these additives (cetyl alcohol for example) are NOT, in fact, harmful & can actually be beneficial when used properly & in correct proportions in diy skin care preparations. Cetyl alcohol is not an “ alcohol” in the context that we are all familiar with ( rubbing alcohol being an example) but is actually a white, waxy substance, a “fatty alcohol “, that is packaged as a powder or flakes. It is used in cosmetics as a thickening agent, an emulsifier/surfactant ( permits oil & water to mix together) & an emollient ( makes skin soft). So this product, Cetyl alcohol is the “ magic ingredient “ that I’ve been looking for that was right under my nose all along! I just wasn’t wise enough to investigate it further to discover its relative harmlessness. It is often used in preparations for treating exzema, altho some people with exzema are actually sensitive to it so use caution. I’m excited to use this Cetyl alcohol in making my body care products because now I can make herbal decoctions and mix them with things like mango butter, coconut oil, almond oil etc. The CA will allow the oil & water to mix. Yippee! Small test batches have been hit or miss so far because I still need to adjust recipes & get the measurements more precise. But the addition of the CA has def made the lotions more emollient & they feel really nice on the skin. I can update review after I’ve used it more extensively. Great price for 8 ounces.

Decent size
Going to good for my body butter recipe. The size is a decent size and the price seems fair, will update once I’ve used it.

great!
i love using cetyl alcohol because it always adds such a luxurious feeling to the products i make. i really enjoy that this is a powder because its easier to melt than other cetyl alcohols which usually come in beads. its really easy to use and i would definitely recommend this one

Cetyl Alcohol
I use cetyl alcohol as a co-emulsifier for homemade lotions and creams. I usually purchase the bead form but I wanted to try this powdered form. It works great and seems easier to get a more accurate measured amount due to the smaller particle sizes. It has an almost waxy feel to it but the particles are firm and mixed in easily into my formulation. I made a small test batch of a face cream and it came out nice, uniform, well emulsified and has a creamy feel. I have used many other Myoc products in the past and they have all worked very well in my creations. This is a very large bag (8.8oz) and I use very little in my creams/lotions so this will last me a very long time. It is a great price for such a large amount. The expiration date is in about 2 years but I have read that with good storage conditions, ie, cool, dark, dry conditions; it can last even longer than that.

Great!
Works exactly as it should. I use it for making various topical balms. It blends very easily into the oils I use for a base. It gives it a great texture and leaves a smooth feeling on skin. I’m very pleased with this product so far.

love this brand and product
This cetyl alcohol powder is excellent for anyone into DIY cosmetics. It’s high quality, and I’ve used it in lotions and creams as an emulsifier and thickening agent. It blends smoothly and gives a nice, luxurious feel to homemade products. Plus, it’s great to know it’s free of adulterants. Perfect for cosmetic makers who want a reliable, premium ingredient.

I have been making all my own oils and lotions, etc. I have been mixing solids with liquids to get the right consistency. Then I saw this and thought I would give it a try. With this I can use just the exact amount of what I want to use because this is a great emulsifier that truly binds everything together without effort. It has a fairly low melting point which is around 120F. That means it will blend into your skin without liquefying. It mixes quickly and helps everything stay mixed, even when you add water to your oils. After several weeks of making a cream with this powder it is still as if I just mixed it up. Zero separation. I have found there is no scent to this stuff. It also does not create any reaction so I feel it is good for sensitive skin. The only issue for me was learning the correct ratio to use for my mixtures. Once you have that figured out, making your own lotions and even shampoos is a lot of fun. This Myoc Cetyl Alcohol Powder is something I will always be using from now on.

For years my wife has been making various lotions so this is a product that gets used a lot in our house. When you get older skin dries out easily and in the winter she easily brews up three small batches. This is the first time she's used this brand but so far she's happy with the results. There haven't been any bad batches and the end products end up smooth, spread easily, and quickly absorb into the skin, the same as when using other brands of the powder. She started with using the same amounts she's used, as called for in the recipes, and doesn't think she needs to make any adjustments although I suspect there will be some more experimentation as she found some new recipes for fruit-scented products. One thing that is definitely on the hit list is a light version of eczema lotion. Too many recipes call for various heavy oils that take a long time to absorb so I'm looking forward to seeing how this will work to help produce a solution that doesn't take hours to disappear. Pricing here, as I write this review it's selling for $37.99, which is better than most options so she has no problem telling me to give this a 5-star rating.

Pros: - It's pure cetyl alcohol with no fillers, fragrance, or other ingredients which is great for making simple home cosmetics. It's naturally sourced from plants too. - Works great as an emulsifier and thickener for home made lotions and creams. It improves the texture and keeps things from separating. - The flakes melt easily and blend with your other ingredients without clumping, and they have no gritty texture. - In my experience it has been gentle and non-irritating on my skin. Cons: - None. Current title: Myoc Cetyl Alcohol Powder (450gm) - Cosmetic Grade, no adulterant, emulsifier, Thickening Agent DIY Cosmetics, Soaps, Lotion, Cream, face wash, balms and ointments

So my girlfriend has been lamenting the loss of her favourite hair product (Melanin Milk) from Sephora as it has been out of stock for months. After looking at the ingredient list, I decided to try and replicate the product but with small customizations (to give you an idea, we are using jojoba oil, blackseed oil, coconut oil, shea butter, rose essence, aloe vera gel, eucalyptus, etc.). This product which feels like flakes of wax made our concoction much smoother and more consistent as it acts like an emulsifier. This is very helpful because it allows us to add water to the mixture so it is less viscous and therefore much easier to apply. By the way, for anyone interested in making body moisturizers or hair products, my recommendation is to go for it. You can make customized solutions and mixtures that feel much more effective than brand name products. If you make them in larger batches, you really get good value and it makes for a fun activity with a partner. This product with allow you add more water without all the components separating )primarily the oils) and creates a product that is much more pleasant to handle.
