Q: I there a way to turn off its annoying daily 'nag' ?

Not while remaining compliant with the license to not modify the software. It's really annoying on MacOS because even if you're using the device over a ssh session remotely, the daily nag and required acknowledgement go to the graphical console instead of where you actually are, locking up the hardware until you return to the console (or start up a VNC or similar session) and acknowledge it.
