Excellent knife that looks incredible. Higher quality than anticipated!
Excellent, sharp, beautiful, and ergonomically sound knife. I gave this as a gift for christmas and the recipient is in love with it. It performs so well and is extremely sharp. It cuts like butter and the grip feels great in the hand. Fantastic knife for the price. Highly recommend.

Gorgeous knife. Feels good in hand. Holds edge. Comes with a small bottle of mineral oil. Mine leaked in the case. Case is handsome and functional.

A great knife!
The Nakiri knife is an excellent, capable knife at this price point. I use it mainly for cutting vegetables, so I use it as more of a specialist knife, and in this area it excels. With it's "flat-ish" (almost straight) belly, forward slice chopping through ingredients are a breeze and mincing garlic can be done quickly with ease. I LOVE its aesthetics, although I've heard that the Tsuchime finish doesn't always prevent food from sticking to it, I still think it works better than knives without the finish. It also looks great if displaying it on a magnetic knife holder. I appreciate the stainless content of the blade which makes maintenance a lot easier. Although the 9cr mov steel is not as high-end as other knife steels, it really is the heat treatment and blade and edge geometry that count for me. It will shred magazine paper all day, but maybe not hold an edge for as long as the higher-end steels. I always hone with a ceramic stone and leather strop often anyway, and I'm not a professional chef who has to prepare ingredients for hundreds of meals on a daily basis. On an emotional note, I think its a functional work of art that also makes food preparation easier and fun and gets me excited every time I use it.

Extremely sharp, prefect knife cuts
LOVE! One of my favorite knives to use. Perfect cuts on veggies and stays extremely sharp with proper care. Also comes in a lovely wooden case with cloth and oil. 5/5!

It's good, but could be great
I wanted to write the review I wanted to read before buying a Japanese Gyuto but I couldn't find it, so here it is. I'm 25 and would like eventually like to get a bunch a cool knives since I absolutely love cooking as I would use them as a feature in my kitchen. I've had a Kitchen Aid set, which actually pretty good and it's what I'm comparing this to because I feel like its the typical "western" style knife. As you can see, Mitsumoto makes a stunning knife, however it's very thick and top heavy. They could have done a lot better job making it thinner and more balanced. The Kitchen Aid is both thinner and more balanced. It's sharp, yeah, but it isn't any sharper than Kitchen Aid. I already know I'm gonna end up buying a block to sharpen it on. They advertise it as carbon steal, however, that may be inaccurate because the guide that they give you says it's stainless, hmmm... Not sure but I cut an onion and it didn't oxidize 🤷🏻♂️ BUT it will impress your friends and looks very good. I think it's a good knife but there is a reason why some Gyuto's cost $170. It's a good way to introduce yourself into the style, but I don't know about the longevity and definitely upset it isn't as balanced, thin, or as light as others out there - thats kinda the whole point of a Gyuto... A Serious Knife
Very sharp, I recommend a knife magnet to store it on the wall. You do have to hand wash it right after each use, but if you can do that then this is a top-tier knife for the price. It looks very traditional with the wooden handle and forged appearance on the blade, and it's quite functional and easy to use. It's technically a meat knife, but I use it in vegetables all the time as a general purpose chef's knife and it works great!

Cuts through with anything with ease!!!
The best knife we have ever owned. Worth every single penny!!!! I was always the kind of person that said “a knife is a knife”, “they all cut the same” but after we got this, I was a changed woman. We will never go back to basic cheap knives!!! This cuts so effortlessly it’s scary. I cannot recommend this knife enough. We have gifted it to people. That’s how good this knife is!!!! Easy to hold, grip, isn’t cheap or thin. Doesn’t feel like it’ll break in my lifetime!! And on top of the usage and capabilities, it also look badass!!! Really cool etchings in blade, and beautiful box to store it in. We love this knife!!!!! Get one for yourself!!!

Lovely knife,
Love this knife, I use it daily in a commercial setting. Holds a good edge and is relatively well balanced in my hand despite its length. 10/10 would purchase again. Great quality for price.

Great little kitchen knife. It comes with a fancy box and oil. It is used as a backup knife in my kitchen and comes out of the box very sharp. I have sharpening equipment so it stays sharp rather easily. Holds an edge very well. It is a tad on the heavier side of my knives, but that isn't a bad thing. It looks pretty cool, too.
