Nice to have
Nice to have if you have a lot of miscellaneous nuts and bolts laying around. I plan to gather all mine together some day and organize then according to size and then label them in containers. At least that's what I told my wife.

Easy one you know
Great tool once you know how to use all the components of the product. Great design and good to read.

A Handy, Simple to Use Guage for Sizing Hardware
I keep a large assortment of fastening hardware (not all of which has been sorted...) and have found this gauge to be indispensable. It can be a real pain to try to find a screw or nut of just a certain size without it. It is of a simple go/no-go design making it easy to use. It is another product from Rockler and is made from a heavy gauge plastic which seems to be pretty durable. I bought this through Amazon but since it comes from Rockler, they have what seems to be a pretty high shipping charge attached. If you happen to want one, I recommend checking out other Rockler products you might like/need as the shipping charge increases very little when ordering multiple products. No shop should be without one.

Works well but be careful
I used this to measure my Tractor's wheel bolts and threads when I had problems mounting spacers. It told me and the vendor what we needed to know to send a replacement spacer set. Bolt diameter was accurate but you have to be very careful and look closely at the tread pitch fit. I thought I had it in mm but it turned out the pitch fit even better using the standard side. I would like the thread fitting bumps to be taller and more obvious. Still, it works and is kept handy in my home workshop. I did have one really large nut that the gauge did not have big enough measuring stub but most of the time this tells me what I need to know. Just pay attention to the way things fit it.

A shop "must have"
I got one of these years ago as a freebie with a subscription--still have it and use it often. I am, however, splitting my workshops--the wood shop will stay down and the metal will go to the garage. This means splitting out some hardware and tools I decided to to get this improved model for the metal shop as I still get new and used hardware in bulk and need to identify it. Also, this is helpful when you need to size a replacement for a broken screw or bolt. You can measure lengths in SAE and MM as well as a pitch guide for threads. Coarse and fine nut/washer posts too. I like this one and it is already on my toolbox in the garage on a magnetic hook. Also from Amazon, I have a second sorting and counting tray that makes putting the loose items back in the container easy. The two together make most hardware jobs much simpler and I recommend both.

Basic is still good
This is a basic tool to measure most common sized bolts. I use it occasionally before going to the hardware store, but most hardware stores have more accurate bolt size indicators mounted to the bolts shelves. I'm still glad I have this tool as it saves me time and money on occasion.

Good Gauge When New Bolts/Screws Are Needed
I've been changing out bolts and screws that show signs of rust in some items that I've had for many years. I don't have to bring a bunch of different screws to the hardware store anymore. I guage them at home and also write down the length so, the info is in my cell! This was a great investment!

Indispensable
If you're like me and you've got buckets and tins and little drawers of screws laying around we need to get organized! Don't be "that" handyman that shoves any and every screw where it doesn't belong just to get the job over with, creating a frustration for the next person because you ruined the threading. Separate your screws and use the appropriate screw. You've got one... Somewhere. Quick and easy to use. I wonder though if a circular/cylindrical version of the thread gauge would make possibly be easier to read. Ideally I wanted the kind the hardware stores have where you can screw on to test, but those are expensive. I'll eventually make my own once I've got a good assortment of (measured!) screws and nuts.
