I bought it for my 7 year old. It does repeal water. You can see the water drops slide off the hat. The back neck cover is a good size. It covered him well. We first took it camping.

Our 9year old son loved this for outdoor summer camp and fishing!
He wouldn’t leave home for camp without it. He doesn’t like bugs buzzing in his ears or having tons of sun screen on his face. This hat saved the day.
