Excellent spice mix!
I’ve purchased 2 bags of this now, it’s so good! I use it to make a spicy lamb stew and it is phenomenal. It’s also great on chicken and pork (and eggs!). It does have some heat, so if you can’t handle much, it might not be for you. I find the heat level to be nice. My husband, who can’t take as much heat as I can can still eat and enjoy this. The spices taste very fresh. I will definitely purchase more as this has become a staple spice in my kitchen.

This spice blend is excellent - the flavor and balance are really wonderful
This spice blend is excellent - the flavor and balance are really wonderful. I use it a lot on potatoes, sweet potatoes, other root vegetables, or eggplant, and it's good on meats as well, when cooking for two I use between a teaspoon and tablespoon, depending on the spice level I want. Do note that it includes sea salt, so adjust accordingly (I make food bowls, with a whole grain such as saffron brown basmati rice, with sweet potatoes, mushrooms, onions, sautéed kale, and fresh tomato and avocado, typically with 1-2 teaspoons of this, I don't add any other salt, and it's fine for my low-salt taste preference).

This berbere is SOOOOOO HOT!
It is delicious and has a wonderful flavor BUT make sure you do taste tests before you follow any recipe exactly! Because IT IS HOT! Not just kinda hot, but holy hell what did I just put in my mouth kinda hot!!! Value for the money is pretty amazing because this package will last my entire life time and if I had children they would be able to leave it to their children! Consider yourself warned!

VERY spicy!
I love spicy food. This spice is very good, and different than any I have had before. However, don't believe the reviews that say it's not spicy enough. I like Mexican and Asian food to be sweat-inducing spicy. I made an Ethiopian dish that called for 1/4 cup of this spice. I used a little less, so my husband could eat it. This was at the very limit of what I could tolerate. Any spicier, and I wouldn't have been able to taste the food - only the spice. My poor husband tried gamely to eat it, but had to give up after about 1/2 serving.

consistent quality over multiple orders
This stuff is beyond amazing. Definitely spicy but I literally ordered this because of people complaining of spice. They are definitely using high quality spices and it really comes out in all dishes or alone by the spoonful (yes I am obsessed). The birds eye chili is also unique and perfect in this blend. I have ordered about 20 of these over the last 2 years and have multiple people hooked like junkies on this moving away from sriracha and whatnot. Every batch seems to be very consistent and has not let me down.

Flavorful and spicy!
The perfect taste for making Doro Wot! But be careful and don’t use too much. (I did, and my dish was at first inedible—but I rescued it by making a triple batch with no spices, then mixing the spiced and unspiced batches. The result was deeeeelicious!)

Not true Berber - mostly cayenne
2 tablespoons of this stuff is too much. The flavor is there, but real cooking with berber has you drowning the dish in a quarter cup of spice. The main ingredient in this mix is cayenne which isn't right. If you like spicy, this is actually not a bad spice, but if you want that Ethiopian flavor, find a local grocer.
