Works awesome. Easy to install

The media could not be loaded. This overflow box came with everything I needed for the install including the bit needed. Comes with all required gaskets as well as a template to drill it perfectly

Great alternative to the "Ghost Overflow"

I had a hard time finding a lot of information about this overflow, so I pioneered, and now I'll leave some information for those of you who are in the same boat. I ordered the S, which I believe stands for "Small," rated for 600GPH.Please note, I have not filled my tank up with water yet, BUT I have seen this overflow working on the exact same size tank, and the water level is right where it should be.In terms of looks, this is pretty sleek. I'm running it on a Mr. Aqua 22 gallon, and I'm doing a peninsula style build. It was important that I have something streamlined and out of the way. I've seen custom internal overflow boxes for these nanos, and who wants to waste that type of real estate?! Not this guy!The package comes with everything you need, including the glass drill bit, and a guide. I was able to drill this JUST tight enough into the corner of the tank, so I wouldn't have to worry about anything growing between the glass and the overflow. Remember, when you drill, keep the glass wet and cool, and let the drill do the work. The bulkhead that keeps the internal and external together is just high enough that it looks like it'll cover the water line, which is what I hear the Ghost Overflow does not do, so if you're running a Bean Animal or Herbie, you're constantly adjusting. I don't think this will be the case. If anything changes with my review, I will update, but as of now, I'm very pleased.EDIT: one year and 3 days later, added photos of my reef! Same tank, just starting to grow out.

Good product if you know what you are doing, instructions are poor.

This was overall an ok product if you can avoid the negatives I will describe here. The drill bit was fine. Drilling was no problem. Getting the hole in the right place was challenging because unless you have done this before, you dont really know how far up the water is going to be on the box in the tank. I thought I knew about where it would be, but found I was off about 3/8". Water level was that much higher than I thought it would be. There is not really any way to adjust the level down if you have it too high and I actually drilled with the resulting water level a bit too far up for my comfort. Read some previous people's experiences on some forums and you should do ok. Most seem to be drilling too far down - this is probably better than drilling too far up as I did. You still may need a longer pvc than the red one they include to make the overflow completely quiet. They should include a 1" strainer for the lower exit out of the outer box just to be sure your pipe remains free of anything that might get in to clog it up. Not sure if it's really necessary but I would recommend it. The next thing is the instructions are poor and don't tell you where the gaskets really need to go. So after having multiple leaks the first time getting water in it, I ended up over tightening one of the nuts, thinking I just did not have it tight enough, and the nut snapped. Then I had to replumb the box so I could get a new nut on. Luckily I had one around from another overflow. Poor instructions were at fault here. If I used this product again, knowing what I know now I would not have these issues, but buyers should be aware this is a nice product if you are an experienced tank driller and plumber, and if not you might want to try to find some help. Some simple better instructions and troubleshooting tips would be priceless because it seems almost everyone has the same issues and solutions. After getting it going and working nice, I would say, most definitely do this rather than a tube over the top overflow. If you can drill, do it. I tried that and it was a huge pain over all trying to tweak the flow to avoid bubbles in the tube, and even then you always worry about losing siphon during a power outage. The last thing is I would absolutely recommend also drilling for returns. I am using a pipe over the top for the return and while perfectly functional and trouble free, it is a bit of an eyesore, and if I could do it again I would do through the glass returns. Hope this helps everyone thinking about this for your next or new tank. Wanted to give it 3 stars because instructions are criminally negligent, but overall it is a nice product only marred by instructions that you can just choose not to look at if you can get help from elsewhere. Will give it 4 for that reason.

Great Bang for Buck & Includes Everything Needed

I had 4 tanks that I wanted to convert from siphon overflows to true overflows due to the noise and fear of flooding. So happy that I purchased these. Installation was a breeze. I took the time to measure the clearance and mark accordingly so that the top of the overflow was just 1/2" from the top of the tank. My water level is hidden by the black trim on the tanks allowing me to run minimum or maximum flow. Adjusting the siphon is key to ensure that the system is silent and I can take phone calls in my fish room and enjoy the ambiance in peace. I was able to use the same bit on all 4 tanks and sold the others to recoup some of my money. I had my daughters with a spray bottle of water to ensure that the bit stayed cool as I drilled. Let the drill do the work and make sure that if you are drilling with stocked tanks like I did, you drain a good amount of water below the hole you are drilling to relieve pressure and prevent water running out. The gaskets seal well, but I believe in a 1/4 to 1/2 turn after hand tightening to ensure no leaks. Make sure that you use unions in your plumbing setup for easier maintenance. Highly recommend this overflow.

Great overflow

Drilling the hole is a bit scary but just take your time. An advice is to take into account the trim of your tank and drill from inside out if possible. Also make sure your tank isn't tempered. I used a polarized filter for a camera and a old laptop. Newer laptop have led screen and it doesn't work with the polarized filter the same way.The overflow itself is great. The 3 bulk head in the overflow allows for the durso configuration. So it's super quiet. You just hear a quiet trickle if you have a lid on your tank. One problem I have is that the over flow box itself began to bow a little bit. Not sure if it's from the warm water or because the acrylic wasn't cast acrylic but it does bow a quite a bit.Over it's a great product and better than those big internal overflow boxes.
