This is one of the best things purchased through Amazon. We have had it for two years. It stays outside all the time in the New England spring, summer, and fall. We bring it inside in the winter. It’s first charged we plugged it in. From then on the solar panel has powered it. It is always charged outside which is exactly what I wanted. We go out to the pool and can just turn it on and it powers right up. Even after the winter it didn’t need to be plugged in to charge just charged from the solar panels. Other wireless speakers would lose a charge then we’d go to bring them outside and they would need to be charged. This just always read when needed. It also has great sound that spreads throughout my yard and patio. We love it!

The Speakers are great. Pairing was easy and connection stays steady. Sound quality is great. When we had difficulty with the solar charger on one of the units Alpine replaced it. AWESOME customer service. Highly recommend Alpine and these speakers

UPDATE 8/8/2019: I've had this rock speaker for 1 year and 5 months. It has worked flawlessly all this time. Last week, it started to play music for 5 minutes and then would shut off with a beeping sound. Clearly the rechargeable battery is now failing to hold a charge. Bummer. I've made a claim to Alpine (warranty is only good for 1 year on the item), and I am waiting to see how they respond on a possible fix or replacement. Will update when I get the info. Knocked off a star for the issue.Yes! This thing does work as advertised! The sound is fantastic in the yard. We keep it out there permanently and have never had to plug it on after 2 months of owning it. I charged it the first time indoors before the first use, and otherwise its been sitting outside charging in the sun. I have it paired to Amazon Echo/Alexa to stream my pandora tunes and it does it like a charm. Haven't had a hiccup yet! No need to constantly be schlepping a speaker outside every time you want to listen to music. Pairing was simple and the sound it produces is good for the money. We have a hot tub outdoors and use it at night at least 5x per week. Great for BBQ's and grilling outside too. I have mine in a plant bed and it just fits right into the landscape. Very happy!

we bought this for use out by our pool and hot tub. We have the surround sound in our living room wired to two ceiling mounted speakers on our patio, but the receiver treats them as an additional pair of rear channel speakers, so for the music to be audible over the sound of the hot tub, we have to have it really loud inside the house, which is usually fine for when we're having a party, but not ideal for every day use. This speaker is a nice compromise. Just pair with your phone and play some music. The sound quality is decent -- pretty much on par with any decent boombox. My only complaint overall is that as you turn the volume up, it seems to aggressively compress the audio signal and roll off more and more bass, I'm guessing to favor volume and clarity over audio fidelity. Don't expect deep booming bass or you'll be disappointed, but at normal listening levels the mids and highs are articulated and clear. The volume level is good, we had it up pretty loud last night and didn't notice any distortion at a level that was uncomfortably loud. We haven't used it long enough to run the batteries out yet so I can't really speak to how long it lasts but we used it for a few hours after the sun went down and it lasted well into the evening when we decided to wrap it up for the night.It would be nice if you could pair more than one of these to the same phone, but for the purpose of getting music out by the pool, this does the job well.

The speaker has great sound at a reasonable price. Love the look and the solar charging. I use it with and indoor Amazon Echo paired to the unit outside on the deck. However after about 2 months it stopped working. I contacted Alpine support and was treated to a new replacement unit once I provided a couple of pictures and a short video of the unit not working.Well done Alpine!

Why did you pick this product vs others?:I picked this speaker for the name as I have had Alpine speakers in the past and I was very satisfied with them. When I first got my speaker I hooked up and was so happy with the sound and volume and the appearance, everything was great. After 2 months I went to listen to music and relax and it wouldn’t sync with my music. I followed the instructions to the letter and still nothing, and only a 30 day warranty, now I have a fake rock. I won’t buy this again. If I buy something similar I will definitely spend $15 and get 2 years protection. I question anything that the manufacturer won’t stand behind with a decent warranty. Not happy with this and makes me leery to buy similar products

I love this thing. No the sound quality is not the best but it gets pretty loud. And it’s lasted through rain and snow and crazy Ohio weather. It’s been about a year and Ive never actually had to use the plug to charge it, the solar charger does a great job. It’s just a fun thing to have in your garden. And I’m not worried about it being stolen cause it looks like a rock. Perfect

Decent sound. Paired easily however, we bought two so we could have a stereo effect and when we read the instructions for pairing it says the speakers don’t support pairing multiple speakers. Very disappointing! One will be returned.
