Excellent presentation the only problem for me is that the idiom is only English, and I was expecting it in Spanish or Japanese

One of the greatest classic animes ever made

I'm revisiting an anime I watched as a kid back in the 80's (when I lived in Europe) many times a series such as this one is impossible for me to share with my U.S. friends. I know in the 90's they tried to bring it here via Streamline Pictures but they had a series of legal issues with the good folks back in Japan and it fell apart. Now finally we get a proper U.S. release (for me to share with my friends) and man the 4K scan looks so crisp. The U.S. voice actors are pretty good overall, can't complain. But you do have the option to switch over to Japanese (with two types of English subtitles as well) The packaging is solid, all 4 discs held together well. And the additional booklet with original concept art was a nice touch. As far as the series itself, it's not 100% kid friendly, there are some adult themes in there you may want to look over, before showing this to little kids (for older kids I think it's fine) Besides that, it's a big adventure by one of the masters of anime, and it's a lot of fun. Animation is also excellent considering it's from 1978.

Hayao Miyazaki's directorial debut is a classic animated series and worth watching. You may think that you've seen it before because of how much has been used as inspiration for other movies & series. It definitely shows as dated with some of the over dramatized characters and how they act but that's also the period it was made. With that being said it was very enjoyable to watch with a good storyline, characters and artwork.

Few animated shows have the attention to detail of Future Boy Conan. It has great story lines, interesting characters, and great animation. I would say this was a labor of love rather than a job for the ones involved with this show.

The only way to see it was on Blue Ray Disk. I saw part of it as a kid, wanted to see the complete series with my kids. Some nostalgia here for sure. My kids say this cartoons are much more funnier than today's dull cartoons. I will add this cartoons are way more charming too. Take in consideration this is a 1978 cartoon, you will see some scenes that are considered not appropriate for kids by today's delicate standards, like the use of guns and smoking. If you are OK for your kids to see it with an 1980's kids eyes, them go for it, it's definitely worth the watch.

A must watch for HM fans. Solid transfer too. Looked great in HD. Lots of content to watch for the price.

Good story, but with a little bit sad ending.

Really well presented and great Blu-Ray transfer that it looks and sounds great. Hats off to the cast on the new English language dub, too.

Future Boy Conan: The Complete Series [Blu-ray] のレビューです。 この4枚組BDは2021年の4K（通常のBD再生）のリマスターなので、発売中の国内版BDより新しいリマスターになるでしょう。 あまりにハイレゾなので、シーンによってはあたかも水彩背景にセル画を乗っけた撮影素材を見ているかのような錯覚に陥るほどでした。 BGM,効果音、日本語音声も綺麗に入っており、歪んでいたり音がおかしな処はありません。 又、再放送などでカットされがちだった台詞も無事再現、まさに完全版。強いて挙げるなら初期数話にあった予告編は一律カットされていました。予告のある回と無い回が混在していたら、商品的にクレームになったでしょうからね。私は問題ないと思いました。 当時のアニメ制作技術通りのものが映りますので、引きセルで画をスライドさせるカットではその引っ張る方向に合わせた擦り傷が見えていますし、トレス線の色ムラ（塗りミス？）もそのまま映っています。 複数のセルを重ねた故に撮影時に移り込む気泡（？）的なものも時々ありますが、2023年現在国内配信されている映像ほどは目立った感じがしません。うまく消したか？全体の彩度とディティールが上がったからあまり気にならなかったか？どちらかだと思います。 色彩は極めて鮮やかです。セル画はまさに昔ながらの色数に制限があった時代のものが、まさに”塗り”という感じで。そして背景画のタッチが本当にすばらしく、美しい自然や多彩な空の色、夕暮れ。筆使いまで見えるような解像度です。これらが皆、画の迫力になってきます。 そして、これらの画はＴＶオンエア当時視聴者が見ていたものとは違います。マスターフィルムを放送用に情報量を落とし、1978当時の解像度のブラウン管を通して観ていたわけですから。 つまりは受け手側、放送側のインフラが圧倒的に現在よりもローレゾリューションだったので、原版もそれに合わせているのですね。 ジムシィのパンツは本HDマスターでは極端に言うなら蛍光ピンクのようにも見えますが、昔のイメージではもうちょっと落ち着いたピンクでした。恐らくこれは放送で色彩情報が減る事を予め見越して作られていたのでしょう。アニメのセル画原画を見た時、どの作品のものでも放送でモニターを通して観たものよりも、非常に鮮やかなものでした。なので、オールドファンからしてみれば「昔見ていたコナンじゃない」「色が違う」と思うかもしれません。しかしきっとこれが原版に近いのだろうと思います。 素材由来のこういった特徴はありますが、ゴミなどは綺麗に取り除かれていますし、インダストリアの暗い画づくりも暗いながらに色々考えて絵作りがされていたのが判ります。宮崎氏や他の面々のタッチも良くわかりました。 この作品がカリ城に繋がり、ナウシカやラピュタ、紅の豚などに部分部分に再生産されていったのだな、と改めて通して観ると感じられます。 私の感覚ではこのコナンTVシリーズから、映画 紅の豚 までの宮崎作品が一つの塊と思っています。 思想や哲学は入っているけれど、エンタメ性がとにかく前面に出ているので、動きや構図で見せる「漫画映画」として超優秀なのです。 アニメでも小説でも映画、劇、様々な創作物では、その作家の最も顕著な特色はその処女作に現れる、という説がありますが、このコナンにはその後の宮崎作品に見られるエッセンスがぎっしり詰まっていました。 マスターが古くて映像が暗かったり、無理繰り16:9画面に天地をカットされたり、オンエアで見逃す回があったりと、その後の宮崎作品に比べると中々じっくり見る機会が無かったコナンですが、 このようなHD画質で作りたてホヤホヤのような状態でレストアされて一気見できるというのは実に素晴らしい事です。話数が進むたびに目が離せなくなり、1日とはいいませんが、数日で一気に全話見てしまいました。 最後にBDディスクについて追記します。 ちょっと古めのDIGAで見ましたが、全く普通に再生しました。 BDの設定メニュー画面で日本語を選択できますが、その時は自動＆強制的に英語字幕になるため、リモコンの機器設定で手動で字幕をオフにすれば完璧に日本版環境になります。OP EDも全部日本版環境で英語のオーバーレイ（よくある差し替えや消せないやつ）はありません。 チャプター区切りはアバンの壊滅シーン＋歌で１チャプター。本編Aパート＋中間パタパタで1チャプター、Bパートで1チャプター。EDで1チャプターで、通しで一気見には勝手が良いです。 全話一気見かエピソード選択かはメニューで選べます。選択サブタイは英語ながらアイコン絵で判ります。 制作は丸印に”GKIDS”というマークのメーカーですが、ここの宮崎アニメは日本語原版を大切にするようで、これまで買った中ではラピュタのごく一部のシーンの音声かすれを除いてほぼ外れた事がありません。画質も原版のアナログさを良く出しているバランスの良いマスタリングをするメーカーだと思います。
