Easy Setup, Good Camera for the $
This is my 2nd SimpliSafe outdoor cam purchase. Been using one on the east coast for over a year now, and this one will live on the west coast. Cameras are easy to mount and position. I do wish there was an option that could make the cameras more tamper/theft proof, so they could be mounted in lower height locations. Cameras work well and seem to have good wifi signal capture. Using one with an eero mesh, and one is outside but only about 20' from the main router. They capture good images, but even at 1080, zoom gets grainy sooner that it should. Haven't really used the "spotlight" feature but will be trying it out this summer. Cameras are easy to setup in the SimpliSafe app. I like to power them up while I'm inside close to the wifi router, add them to the system and name them, update them, etc. Then take them to their mounting location and test their connection with the SS app once there. I like being able to see the grid of motion-sensor areas and disable certain ones, keeps bushes and trees from constantly tripping the cameras.

Easy set up / clear picture / great sound
Added this camera to the system we purchased years ago as the doorbell camera picks up movement across its vision, but not always head-on movement. It easily connected to the system and was simple to mount with two small screws provided. The magnet attaching it to the base is very strong and allows for many positions. We placed it about 8-10 feet above the entry with a 30 degree angle as suggested. The battery takes time to charge but after registering 99% on the app, it is still showing 98% after 4 days of service. I also purchased a back-up battery. These are simple to slide on.Clear picture and motion. Solid connectivity performance. Great sound and voice speaker. The only minor flaw I have noticed is that the magnet is so strong, when I twisted the camera during positioning, it came free of the base. If I had not had a firm grip on the lens I may have dropped it.I highly recommend this and all the SimpliSafeproducts I've used.

A Warning for Those Mounting it on Stucco, Concrete or Brick - But a Great Camera
Before going into the mounting woes details, keep in mind this camera is designed an optimized to work with an existing Gen3 Simplisafe Alarm system, ideally with a Fast Protect Plan. I haven't tested it as a stand alone camera, but all the features the set-up, the access to the camera history, etc are designed for the SimpliSafe app with a monitoring subscription. Also, image quality is incredible, the width and depth of the image under any lightning conditions is superb, and its motion activated feature works perfectly. It is, of course, wireless, which means no cables to run outside, perfect for an apartment building for example. The jury is still out about Battery life, but in about a week it has consumed little less than 5%, mounted to look over a low traffic area. Not bad at allNow for the installation. Not sure what Simplisafe was thinking but it comes with no installation instructions, printed or accessed via a pdf. You have to somehow step into an online video which is not accurate and provide very few details. You would think "it is just two screws" which can be true, but not necessarily an easy thing when you have a concrete, brick or stucco wall and you have to drill the holes firstThe video tells you to drill two holes using a 7/64 inch drill bit and insert the two anchors provided. The first thing you'll notice is that there is no way the anchors will fit into a 7/64 hole, it would be very small. 7/64 is probably the size of the screws which doesn't make any sense. I had to guess the size of the drill bit, used a 5/32 and ended up breaking one of the anchors when pushed, so I moved up to a 3/16. This is the perfect size, the anchors will fit snuggly and the screws will expand them, making for a very solid mount. That Simplisafe tells you to drill an incorrect hole is kind of puzzlingThen is the base of the camera itself: the camera is held in place by a not very strong round magnet in the base. It looks like a clever design, visually and aesthetically looks great, but its functionally is limited. The problem is the camera is heavy, mostly because of the battery. So if the camera is not positioned above the imaginary diameter of the base, it will start sliding down and eventually point to the floor. My camera is mounted in a corner, it took me a while to make sure the camera was above the diameter of the base and still pointing in the direction I wanted. The wide-angle minimizes the hasle, but it still a hasle. I don't want to think I will need to repeat the process every time I change the battery. What looks like a base with unlimited positions in theory, ends up being a functional drawback in practice. Simplisafe needs to do something about this

Hate to write a bad review BUT...
So many people said good things about Simplisafe I went ahead and bought a system about a year ago. I was seldom away from home and just assumed it was working correctly as I didn't fully use the system. When I tried I had so many problems that Simplisafe sent me a new keypad and central unit. They seemed to be working OK so I added an outdoor camera. I spent a few hours trying to set it up by myself then a few more on line with Simplisafe. Finally got everything working just right and was happy but the first time I needed to recharge the battery, I couldn't get the camera recognized afterwards. Tried a few more times and still didn't get results. I am about to call them again and I'm not happy. For me, nothing Simple about Simplesafe. Update. Finally got the camera to work, just took a few hours...Addendum- I'd like to say that was the end of my problems but after recharging the battery I had to install the camera again and had the same time consuming problems getting the camera to connect. Really unhappy I chose SimpliSafe because all the hours it took to get it running right and keep running right. Jeez, really hard on a an old guy....Addendum-Supposed to be Simple but isn't, taking a star off after ten hours messing around following their instructions without any luck at all. I shouldn't have to call Simplisafe every time I recharge the battery, stuff that worked just stopped and won't start again. Wearing out my fingers/thumbs trying to reset this thing. AND ANOTHER THING- not only hard to get going but on a recent trip I was out of town when the internet went down at my house the unit does not automatically reconnect AND it was impossible to get it going from a wifi connection when I was out of the country. So it works OK when you finally get it going but when you really need it when you are actually away from home, it is useless...
