Great for gear
I use locking gates when my life is on the line (literally), but these are solid and dependable gear hooks and I think I would trust them to hold me in an emergency. I have used them in light rigging situations (for branches being cut, not for humans), and for hauling gear and lots of other things. I typically keep one on my backpack at all times.

Great quality
I use these for adaptive skiing. They slip in and out of the retaining loops with no snags. Our older carabiners hang up all the time.

They are big enough to use with gloves on. Priced to where I'm willing to use them wherever I want. Believably strong enough to really work hard when put to the test. 3rd purchase for me in black, and about 20 of the plain silver as well. Update October 2024. Still using - still buying. (And occasionally giving one to a friend in need).
