it works as intended

For most applications, I like Timeserts for thread repair much better than helical coil type thread repair systems. For one thing, these are easier for a novice to install. I use them in aluminum and cast iron all of the time. The inserts are available in different lengths and in different materials (e.g. steel and stainless steel). They are pretty good at not backing out as well, due to their unique locking design.

Repairs stripped out threads

I have used helicoils in the past and hate them coming off along with your bolts and or the difficulty of getting them on properly.... with that said when you install these inserts especially in aluminum the end result is even better than the original, they are pricey but we all know you get what you pay for

Cannot be beat for thread repair. Helicoils are a joke compared to these time-sert kits. More expensive but totally worth it.
