Encyclopaedia Eorzea ~The World of Final Fantasy XIV~ Volume I (Final Fantasy XIV: Encyclopaedia Eorzea) Review: Gorgeous quality - The one star review on this listing had me questioning the validity of this for a long time. But after a year-long wait, it’s finally here. And it was worth it. I had a thought the price a little steep at $50, but I understand the price after seeing it in person—the hardcover is itself detailed and all the lines are pressed in so it has a 3D feel to it. The gold trim is an inlaid reflective ink and the crystal itself is a glossy paint that rises slightly off the surface. It’s really beautifully put together. As for the content, it’ll take some time before I can report on it, but a quick flip through reveals a breadth of topics and an incredible amount of astonishing art printed in high color and detail. There are pages on the workings of aether and elements, the histories of bygone astral and umbra eras as well as detailed summaries of the Allagan empire, fifth era cities like Mhach and Amdapor, current city states, biographies of important figures past and present, and more. It covers at least to the end of 3.0. This was published by Square Enix, and the entire this was written by Natsuko Ishikawa, Michael-Christopher Koji Fox, and Banri Oda, so you know it’s going to be good. I look forward to reading this cover to cover and learning more about my favorite fictional world ever. Especially now, in 6.2, as it is looking like the history of Eorzea will be more important than ever in upcoming expansions. Review: A must have for any Final Fantasy XIV lover - I've searched for this lore book for years as I got heavily into the game after the initial run. I was preparing to spend upwards of $80 on a used copy until the developers announced they were doing a new run of the books. It was incredibly well worth the wait. The cover detailing/embossing is wonderful and looks great on a shelf or table. The book is absolutely packed with 300 pages of lore and images (the font is tiny, a warning for those that may need a magnifying glass) ranging from base ARR through most of HW even down to NPCs you didn't know had much lore to them. The pages have a matte feel to them and are not glossy. Paired with the art books, I feel like I have a great comprehensive encyclopedia to reference now. Volume 2, which I am saving up for at the moment, covers more details of the world itself not present in the first and what you need for SB lore. Volume 3 was confirmed by the devs to be in the making which will span over Shb and EW and I'm greatly looking forward to it. For those ordering this and worrying possibly about the code being a loose paper inside like some of the art books, it is snugly kept in the book binding itself in the back so no worries about losing it unless someone cuts it out. And unlike the recent art book bonus in-game items, the little namingway minion is account wide (please Square, all IRL purchased items that come with these codes should include account wide codes for ALL characters we have on our accounts with how much we spend on these). All in all, a fantastic and worthwhile purchase for a FFXIV fan deep in the story. And hey, if you have a little fanfic writer in your life who loves this series, this is the absolute PERFECT gift!

UPS left in driveway, but great condition
Arrived in excellent condition. Only have thumbed through it, but everything inside the book looks gorgeous. The cover has almost a 3D feel to it with the design. The only issue I have was the UPS driver left it in my driveway instead of walking it to the porch and leaving it there like every other delivery driver

Great book for.the price
I love the product, but I am not so sure were the code mentioned is located. I gave this as a gift so was hoping it was somewhere with the book. Over all love the book. Illustrations are amazing.

A Must-Have for Any FFXIV Fan!
If you're a fan of Final Fantasy XIV, Encyclopaedia Eorzea Volume I is an absolute treasure trove of lore, history, and stunning artwork. This book is beautifully crafted, with high-quality pages that make every illustration pop. The amount of detail packed into this volume is incredible. It covers everything from the histories of the city-states to the origins of the primals, the Twelve, and the major factions across Eorzea and beyond. Whether you're a lore enthusiast, a roleplayer, or just someone who wants to deepen their appreciation for the world of FFXIV, this book has something for you. Plus, Koji Fox and the localization team bring their signature wit and depth to the writing, making it feel like an in-universe tome rather than just a game companion book. It's both informative and entertaining. If you love FFXIV as much as I do, this is a must-own. Now, if you'll excuse me, I need to go re-read the section on the Ascians and question everything I thought I knew. 5 Stars, would get lost in lore again.

All 3 codes worked!
I just purchased all three volumes and each one was sealed, the books were in perfect condition, and all three codes worked with no issues. These books are incredible—I highly recommend picking them up if you love the game!

Wonderful lore supplement
First off, the look and feel of the book is great. They did a great job making it look close to something like an old tome or research book. And the material they used for the outside of the book makes it have a tactile feel almost similar to leather, further expanding the immersion of the book. Now onto the books contents. It presents a lot of information about the setting of the game, and quite a bit of information that you can easily miss or not even find in the game. First it starts off with a general explanation of the world. Then it goes into the timeline and recent major events. From there it talks about various things, from the many different races in the game, the geography and lore about the lands, major groups and people of interest, all the way to information about the various creatures you’ll face in the game. Overall, if you’re super into lore and world building, as well as a fan of the game, then I’d say this would be worth the purchase and is a good addition to your collection.

My only regret is not getting this sooner. Even better if you can get it on sale - 35 ish. Quite a large book so it's great for the coffee table or a tall bookshelf. Surprisingly dense - lots of lore that helps explain so much in-game that I glossed over while playing FFXIV. Would highly recommend whether you're looking to learn a lot about the world in FFXIV or to flick through for the beautiful art.

I'm very happy with this book. First off, it's bigger than I was expecting, in size not width (although it has many pages.) I hope you have a tall shelf! It has a nice faux leather aesthetic with some reflective embossing on covers. The interior pages also follow this old timey aesthetic using yellowed paper, and any screenshots from the game (excluding portraits) are edited to appear faded/worn. The content is really in depth. It is written from a would-be historical perspective mostly, and it serves the book well. It covers the history of Eorzea, to it's geography and people, etc. It breaks down each country in Eorzea with detail. Of course since the launch of Endwalker we now know some of this information is actually outdated, but since the book is written from that historial or in world-like perspective this does not really harm the readability. In fact it is interesting to read the old explanations for the world when you have the true knowledge in your mind. Overall I would really recommend this book to FFXIV lore fans. Again this is for lore fans, there is a lot of reading here! If you're not into that stuff, I would not recommend it.

Well worth the money, even as an object alone! The quality of it all, gorgeous! Textured cover and all, I'm in love! As the book states in the first pages: "this book is a labor of love". You feel it when you look at it, when you hold it, when you read it. It is written as if our own world does not exist, for those who really want to immerse themselves into the world of Hydaelin. As this one came out in 2016 it mostly contains informations about the events, characters, places, etc from A Realm Reborn and Heavensward. If you are a new player already super hooked to the point of considering the acquisition of the Encyclopædia, finish at least post-Heavensward before reading. Some images are only readable on the physical book, not the kindle version, I definitely made the right choice. Contains major spoilers that you couldn't know at the time of release were spoilers. Shows how much was planned years in advance, brilliant. I mean the book came out in 2016... and something in the early pages is only fully revealed in Endwalker (december 2021)!
