9 Baro & Peak, GPS Sports Watch

Q: What is the difference between baro and peak? Do both versions have compass?

I own the newly-released Suunto 9 Peak which is a smaller version of the Suunto 9 Baro. The product title is absolutely awful because it mixes two very different Suunto 9 models. As a result, any answer you read here might be about the other watch and not the one you’re buying. While both versions have a compass and most of the firmware/capabilities are the same, they use different chargers, they have different sensors on the back, they were released years apart, there are multiple bezels (titanium or not). They may well have two different GPS receiver units. None of these differences are explained clearly here. Avoid this seller page. Go find a “clean” seller page that sells only the Suunto 9 Baro, find another “clean” seller page that sells only the Suunto 9 Peak, and compare those specs and questions/answers. Trying to figure anything out from questions and answers on this mixed-up seller page is guaranteed to create easily avoidable confusion.

Q: Any idea why is it marked as “California Proposition 65”? I was about to order it but am worried about this one...

Proposition 65, officially known as the Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act of 1986, was enacted as a ballot initiative in November 1986. The proposition protects the state's drinking water sources from being contaminated with chemicals known to cause cancer, birth defects or other reproductive harm, and requires businesses to inform Californians about exposures to such chemicals. Proposition 65 requires the state to maintain and update a list of chemicals known to the state to cause cancer or reproductive toxicity. So basically, because the watch has chemicals/components that are technically toxic (such as battery related or heavy metal type chemicals/compounds) if in the water supply, they are required to notify the public. I'm pretty sure anything with a battery is gonna have this warning.

Q: What size is the screen itself???

It depends: which watch are you asking about: the Suunto 9 Peak or the Suunto 9 Baro? The screen sizes are different and the seller has mixed up two different Suunto 9 GPS watches on a single product page. What an inevitable confusing mess for anyone trying to ask/answer questions.
