Not sure about games. I used mine for back up of pictures and music.

Q: can these be used in a stand alone digital audio recorder like the philips 760?

No, it's for computer use only.

Q: Can I copy an old 100 page ms word document onto one of these disks? If yes, can I type changes on a page when I put the disk in another pc?

Documents of any kind can be copied to this disk. You can make changes to the document if the other pc has word processing software that works with that file (document) type.

Q: Why does the description say " 25 high-grade rewritable dvd+rw disc ..." and elsewhere they are described as cds not dvds?

The description seems to imply that these discs are DVD capable, but the product and packaging make no mention of DVD capability. I've only used them for data storage and have no experience with DVD recording.
