For most people when the lights go out, this is all the lantern you will need
Weather related power outages are a reality for many of us, and there are lots of solutions for "When the lights go out" Candles work, are relatively inexpensive, but if you have children or are tired they also present a danger. Coleman style gas or propane lanters are really useful, eliminate the flicker of candles, but you still have to be mindful of the danger of fire and their globes and tops can give one a nasty burn. Battery powered incandescent lights, and flashlights are useful, but most only run for at most an hour or two depending on the unit, and the freshness of the batteries of course. Fluorescent lanters are extremely useful, provide a steady stream of light and can be very compact as well. They tend to run for relatively long time periods on batteries, and are a good choice. But at our home, when the power goes off the first thing I reach for is one of my LED lantern style lights. There are some cheapie units that emit a bluish or reddish glow, this unit gives off crisp, clean, bright, white light. Battery life is awesome and if you fall asleep, well no harm done, just a little less battery life. Therefor if you have young ones, or cats or dogs this eliminates any worry of fires. Additionally they come on with the light at full intensity and do not require any warm up whatsoever, unlike fluorescents. I bought this unit as an addition to the RayoVac Sportsman model that also requires three D sized cells. The UST lantern is well made and feels pretty darn solid with good quality plastics and fit well and render the lantern weather resistant- but it is not designed to "Throw into the pool." The globe can be removed leaving you with an illumination beacon similar to a bare light bulb and this is wonderfully useful for a room light, as there is a nook on the base allowing you to hang it up. Bright illuminates my 12 by 25 family room fairly well, and my 52 year old eyes can read on the low setting- and this is good for 30 days of use. I have not yet verified this, but I did read a review that reported this time frame was actually conservative. Wow, guess you don't have to worry about wasting the batteries by falling asleep there! The globe diffuses the light well and I have not had to take the globe off in order to see properly. The intermittent SOS light would be really useful in an emergency situation for say when you are camping, and might lead rescuers to you. Additionally this light is a great size, about as tall as a 20oz soda, but a little wider. It is pretty light weight without batteries, and the three batteries add their weight as well. It is a great lantern for camping for all these reasons. If you are a motorcyclist or serious backpack camper you might prefer a smaller lantern, but on the other hand you give up a lot of usefulness and functionality by doing so. For an emergency light, useful for reading, walking to the bathroom, kitchen or any other part of your home this lantern "Shines" brightly. The unit also has what they call a "Lifetime" warranty on the box, but of course that is only good as long as the company is in business, which hopefully will be a long time. It would be great for most campers and it really is the only lantern most of us would ever need, period. There are brighter lanterns, there are smaller lanterns and there are those that cost less- but this unit strikes a wonderful balance while still having a fair price and solid construction. God Bless ya!

Bright, Picnic table size area LED Lantern - uses 3 D's or AA's with a Sleeve Adapter
This 30-Day is the Big Daddy (brightness-and-size-wise) of the Brilla Mini, Pico, and 10-Day members of UST's lantern family. This is very bright on high - good enough for perhaps a 20'x20' room to see quite well. Too bright on high if it's too low (can't avoid glancing). Good for hanging on that Coleman Gas Lantern Pole-Hook to light up the picnic table while you enjoy a beverage with friends or read a book or write a letter. Has two lower brightness levels making it better for low-brightness illumination in a close-area like a tent. Not so sure I'd use the "take-apart-to-use-as-a-'flashlight'" capability, but one could. But taking apart to hang up as an area light that way would be better, but it might be like an exposed light bulb, too, in terms of being unavoidable to look at directly, just when you need your night vision to get going. Some have remarked that screwing the bottom back on after changing the batteries was a hassle. Yup. Not impossible, but you need to see what's going on (things move) and approach alining and pressing together correctly before turning the base to screw together and seal. Likely tough at night to do if your batteries died. The 10-Day and Pico are the same. The Brilla Mini isn't - it just screws together easily. The Glow-In-The-Dark plastic works just fine if charged by daylight even indirectly; truly effective Glow-In-the-Dark impregnation achieves a long persistence glowing brightness level that allows the item to be seen and found by typical night-acclimated vision even after 5 to 6 hours of darkness at a distance of about 20ft. This product achieves that, but it's not likely that important or effective outdoors in the moonlight as it is in a cabin or large tent on a dark night. I'm satisfied it works as good as any well implemented G-I-T-D product I've seen. The 30-Day is designed to be powered by 3 D-Cells, and the max current drawn should be such that with a full capacity, well designed Alkaline cell such as the Copper Top, much of that battery's 10,000mAH capacity (at 100mA draw) should be effectively used... hence the calculation of 30-days at the low setting. However, Alkaline cells have a sloping discharge curve, so it is possible brightness won't be sustained as charge level drops - something to test. On the other hand, the newer 4th generation NiMH cells like the Panasonic/Sanyo Eneloop AA and certainly the Lithium Iron Energizer Ultimate have a very flat discharge curve (means maintains voltage up to the very end of charge capacity life). The Lithium Iron also packs high energy density - perhaps 3,000mAH in a very lightweight cell. So to me if this lantern is for putting on the shelf in the closet against a power failure during a night time storm, then I'd (and I do) use the clever "D" size adapter sleeves and 3 Lithium Iron cells for very long shelf life without leakage concern, and a run time of maybe not 30-Days on low, but maybe 10-full-Days all at initial brightness throughout.Good value for a bright, capable lantern. If you're looking for something for a small tent, consider the Brilla Mini which uses 2 AA's, runs adequately long, can be used as a short distance/area flashlight as well as a 10' diameter lantern with adequate brightness... and has a magnetic base. Or consider the Pico, which runs on 4 AA's and is a miniature version of the 30-Day. The 10-Day is an in-between size that wants 6-AA's. I'm very happy with the 30-Day for larger area, brighter illumination and the Brilla for in the Jeep Just-In-Case and in-the-bedroom on top of my tall wardrobe.Very good product line, very good products quality and performance wise.

Ilumina de manera muy correcta por su precio y es bastante bonita
Da buena luz, pero de un nivel mediano. No podría iluminar un espacio muy grande. Muy buena relación calidad-precio

SUPER bright lamp
SUPER bright lamp, lightweight but feels durable. Swear it could light up a city block. In fact, I'm afraid to use it outside at night as I don't like attracting attention to myself, but it sure does a great job of keeping the shadow monsters at bay inside my house. I can see them coming from a mile away (it's a figure of speech, my house isn't that big), and sometimes I can now bravely let them come close enough to me, that when i turn around really fast and turn the light on it burns their faces and I can get the surprise attack on THEM, making it much easier for cut out and devour their hearts, which slowly helps me gain their shadowy powers. Yes, one day, I will be the almighty ruler and overlord of the shadow monsters, all thanks to this lamp. Lots of lumens.

... yet but the reviews on battery life were very good. It is compact and well made
Haven't needed it yet but the reviews on battery life were very good . It is compact and well made . it has a handle on top and a hook on the bottom . The switch works well with 3 levels of light as well as an SOS signal . The light is bright and usable on high setting . Very good design and well thought out . Would be great for camping but I bought it for backup for a power outage . I might buy another one .
