Bad Boot
It was on for just one week and the boot fell apart. I am waiting for a replacement now.

Questionable boot quality
I used these previously on my 4R and got nearly 70k out of them before the boots torn. Thought that was good enough for me for an aftermarket part. Bought a set of replacements and have not even lasted 4K miles. Outer boot completely destroyed on one side sliding up the shaft giving vibration. The inner boot destroyed on the other side. Something changed with quality and I cannot recommend these anymore. I attempted to reach out for warranty help through email and got no response back.

Worked perfectly on my 04 4Runner
I've had to replace both half shafts on my 04 Runner over the years. The first time I did it myself, the second time I bought this part and took it to my favorite mechanic and had him install it. (Having a lift in your garage makes the job a whole lot easier!). Either way the part worked perfectly and saved hundreds of dollars over a dealer installed replacement.

Ok for an aftermarket CV axle...
I will say right off that this axle is far from the quality of an OEM Toyota CV axle. If you can afford the $380 to buy a factory replacement please stop reading this review and go buy one. If you’re like me, you’re probably looking for an economical alternative to a factory axle and more than likely plan to replace it yourself. If that is your only route then I would suggest this axle out of most other aftermarket alternatives. So far I have about 3000 miles on this particular axle and it has not malfunctioned. The boots have not stressed or cracked, and the axle has not made any unusual sounds. It is not perfectly balanced, which does make it have a slight vibration/noise around 55 mph. I off-road regularly; I have a 3” lift with no diff drop and the axle has not come out during full flex and wheel lock. This axle is considered a heavy duty replacement and it does have some extra features over other axles (IE extra seal at the contact point of the wheel bearing to keep out dust/moisture, heavy duty boots, dust deflectors on both ends) which come in handy if you plan to go off-road regularly as well. If you can I would suggest to use this axle a temporary replacement and have your old factory axle rebuilt if it can be salvaged. If not I would still suggest to save for a factory replacement and use this in the meantime. Install tips: use grease on the c-clip to keep it centered when installing in to the axle housing. Also make sure to replace the seal on the spindle that keeps debris out from behind the wheel bearing if it is worn or damaged or failure may occur. A thin layer of grease can be used on the splines to prevent corrosion.

Do not buy this product
Bought both CV s for my 4Runner just a lytle over a year ago and didn’t have them installed till just about 6 months ago. The inner boot is completely ripped open and there is now grease is all over my under carriage. I can’t get a proper answer about what to do. It cost almost $800 in labor just to get it on. Customer service does not exist with this company. Should a CV boot only last 6 months. DO NOT BUY!!!

I'm impressed. Pretty decent CV axle
I replaced the pass side CV axle on my 07 FJ Cruiser with one these nearly 5 years and 50k miles ago. It's still in great shape, no issues. The boots are still fine. I need to replace the drivers side one, so I came here to order another one and thought I'd give a review of the one I bought previously. My FJ has a 3" spacer lift but I don't do much hard core off-roading. If you're into that I'd recommend the OEM Toyota CV axle but this one will probably be ok for most folks.

Good deal for what you pay
I bought two of these to replace the previous CV axles in my 4Runner at 207,000 miles. I just had my tires balanced and rotated today at 263,000 miles when the tech pointed out that the inner passenger side boot has a tear in it. No clicking yet so I still have time before replacement. I’d say this is a pretty good deal, all things considered. I got about 55,000 miles out of these over two years on a 4Runner with a 2.5” lift and one summer of heavy 4wheeling. Would I recommend these over factory? Absolutely not. But I’m very happy with my purchase.

These were installed on my stock 2007 Toyota FJ Cruiser. Within 3 months of on-road only diving both outer boots had blown. I contacted AMAZON, and to their credit, shipped an new set. My mechanic took one look at them and told me not to install them as they would fail as well. He pointed out the hardened rubber outer boots. Perhaps I got unlucky, but considering these shipments were months apart, I think it's a systemic issue with the quality. Ultimately went with OEM replacements for a bit more cost. Avoid if possible.

Cardone is supposed to be a fairly reliable product, by the sounds of the other reviews I got lucky to get a year before both inner boots blew apart! Im going back to OE, they lasted 6 years compared to barely 1 year. Save your money and go OE. The axle seemed to hold up but the boots are garbage.
