Do any of the books teach you how to play any easy starter songs? Simple stuff like London bridge or something. If not,anyone know of a kit that does?

easy ukulele songs for beginners by Thomas Johnson has such songs with standard music notation above words and tabs below words. if you do not know how to read music or tab you will need some type of primer book or beginner book for that. to learn simple ukulele music reading on the first four frets I like Play ukulele today by Barret Tagliarino. I got the book used cheap. I have bought several beginner books and may have picked up clues from them also but I liked these two the best. good luck.

No. This ukulele is made from laminated wood.

is the gig bag a waterproof one?

I don't know about waterproof but it certainly is an adequate gig bag.

On the Tenor ukulele, what is the black indent on the top of the body for?

I am not sure. I believe, though, it is to play further down the fret board. I sent the ukulele back as it would not stay in tune.
