Great for cutting branches.
I've had one of these pocket chainsaws in my backpack for quite some time now, however I was using it around the yard so often that I decided to get a second one.Last winter we had a record breaking snow/ice storm that damaged many of my trees. While some of the trees toppled to the ground, the ones that did survive, ended up having many broken branches. The dead branches that are out of reach from my extendable pole saw and extendable loppers, still needed to be cut, and I'm way too old to be climbing trees anymore.I devised a method of using a slingshot to launch a bait casting plug with light weight fishing line over the top of the dead branches. Although it takes a lot of practice, and even more patience, eventually the plug can be shot over a branch and then replaced with paracord, and then with rope. Two ropes are required to operate the pocket chainsaw. When the ropes are tied onto the saws hand straps, the saw can be puled back and forth while cutting a branch. The weight of the limb, helps to keep the saw from getting stuck. This saw cuts through some fairly thick branches, but it does require some physical effort. The trade-off is not having to climb trees.

This thing really works!
This BushWalk Pocket Chainsaw 24 Inch with Sharp Teeth Blades Hand Compact Saw Tools for Camping Hunting Tree Cutting Outdoor Survival Garden Work is called a pocket chainsaw as it indeed works like one- except that it powered by your arms. The little cheaper versions that come in survival kits are Ok for limbs up to say 1" in diameter, and you need gloves on to use them for any length of time. This pocket chainsaw sawed through a 3" limb is a short time- but "boy my arms are tired!".Great for a backpack, car or survival kit, as it is lightweight and portable.

Portable and works
You really can't ask much more from a product like this. First of all, it works great, the handles work fine for smaller branches or trees that don't require as much sawing. If you plan on using it for longer maybe also throw in some gloves but you won't have to worry about the saw giving up on you. With good technique, the saw cuts through quickly and smoothly making the job much easier on my arms. The saw easily scrunches up into a small little canvas bag that fits in your pocket. The bag has a plastic lining on the inside keeping it from getting cut up by the saw. There is also a clip to keep the bag from opening and a little sling on the back for you to clip a carabiner on. Overall it's a nice little package that can definitely come in handy without taking up much space or adding weight.

Lots of teeth in a small package
There were several things that I was expecting when I ordered this that I was totally wrong about. First was how small this thing folds up. It comes with a cheap little canvas-ish pouch to store it in that's about 5"x5" - perfect to throw into a glove box or tool box for an emergency. The other thing is the straps/handles - I was expecting those to be a bit thicker or more robust feeling. It works, but I can imagine if you use this for a while, it'll start to dig into your hands. Regardless, for how small of a pouch this thing packs up into, it'll be a great camping/emergency tool.

great for smaller branches, thinner things
it works best on actual bark or kind of dead branches. i used this to get started on cutting down 2 sago pals that i lost in snovid-21, although the outside was pretty barky and they were getting deader, the insides were still a little meaty - so i was really only able to use the chainsaw to use it to get those started so they i had places to go at it with an axe. i will use this on branches though for use - i actually find it much easier than using a real chainsaw because the chain can't come off you just keep on sawing and you can even call it a bit of a workout if you want. my fitbit thought i was working out so i mean, i guess that's something. and my sagos are officially no longer in my way all dead and gross. so that's a win in my book!
