2 years later, still works as good as new
I think people may be comparing this fan to much more expensive and higher rated models, I think it does what it advertises.I did a lot of research on this fan before purchasing and for some reason decided to come back to rate this after 2 years, here's my thoughts:- I thought I would use the 'exhaust' feature a lot more than I do. I own a window ac and thought I might use it to create a wind flow on warm days, open a window on the other side of the apartment, and pull hot air out through that window. Honestly, opening a window is kind of the same, it just doesn't pull that much air out.- I live in a place that doesn't really get terribly cold (or even *that* hot) so I don't need to ever remove it from my window, if I did, I would need a large closet because it's bigger than it looks. If I was in that situation, I would probably get an adjustable floor fan and put it by a window.- The fan does "close" when it's not in use but it's not perfect and I don't have a great seal so when it's extremely windy, I do get air coming in that rattles my blinds. Rain has never been an issue though, even with extreme storms. You can weather proof it more with AC foam tape on the sides.- Being able to pull in a lot of cold air at night (making sure to open a window somewhere else to let the hot air out) to cool the apartment down is underrated, I really don't even use this fan during the day anymore.- All of my window sills get weirdly sooty and this fan is no exception, I actually haven't cleaned inside of it since owning it, I rely on some air filters inside to hopefully clean the air, but I can tell cleaning it will be annoying, I would like to do once or twice a year. Personally I find all of my fans to be difficult to clean though.- Vornado is a solid brand, 2 years in and it works just as it did on the first day!To be perfectly honest, I'm not 100% sure I would buy this fan again. A strong, adjustable floor fan would probably do the same thing (including "exhaust" if you turn it around), but for the price, I'm not mad and I use it a few times a week.

Not easy to clean inside!
I purchased one of these a few years ago and it has held up well. My biggest complaint is the ability to clean the inside. When we incurred air pollution due to the Canadian wildfires the inside got quite gross and it is quite a pain to open up to clean out the inside AND put back together so that it lines up just so. You can end up doing it wrong so take lots of pictures of how it sets in as you open it up! The remote works great still though we rarely utilize it. It is easy to assemble until you have to clean the inside so just be cautious with that. It’s not terribly heavy to install either. I wish they sold more of the foam buffers for the sides because they do get quite yucky and discolored after a while. The white has faded to yellow especially the part of the fan that faces the outside. I will say that it still functions beautifully even after taking it apart to clean it. I wish they weren’t so expensive though because I would be another one! I love that I can set the temperature for it to shut off if it gets too cold! This is a great feature. I also enjoy seeing the room temperature as well and the ability to put the fan on exhaust. Now the best part is that it blocks out the light from outside. Being on the ground floor, we often get cars that will face our building at night with their lights on for hours aimed at our window. That was the whole reason we got this fan to block out the light at night. Absolutely love it!

Terrific Fan with minor problems you may not care about
The fan itself is terrific and probably the best window fan you can get. It is quiet and moves a substantial amount of air without having an open window like most box fans that let light through from behind their blades even when not in use . But for the issues below, I would give it five stars.First, I’m just a visual level, installing those foam side pieces is neither easy nor is the look very pretty. You need to hold the fan while you try to shove in those side pieces and get the whole thing to stay in place. I did it in the end, but I am worried about how easy it will be to redo it next season after I take the fan out for the winter. Moreover, those pieces are kind of ugly and other reviewers say they turn yellow over time. Yuck.Second, the automatic thermostat setting is virtually useless, and you should not buy it for that feature. If you set the fan to a specific temperature,, the fan will turn off a when the room cools down to that temperature; but it will then turn on again in about 30 seconds; and then turn off again in about 30 seconds; and again and again and again. and Clearly an engineering defect. I called the Vernado helpdesk and was basically told that there was nothing that could be done about it. I had the distinct impression that they had had many prior comments about this issue.Turning back to the positive, I bought the unit with the Alexa connectivity and find it incredibly useful to just roll over during the night and say to Alexa to turn the fan up or down or off on or to a specific speed. Plus the fan is so quiet, even at the highest level, substantially quieter than most window fans.

Quietly Cool
I love this fan, compared to 4 different window fans we’ve tried so far this hits the top 10. It’s easy to control with the remote or manually. You can set temperature for room on/off. It’s super quiet compared to others we’ve tried which is delightful. The only drawback is with the one turbo blade you can’t divide the air flow to have one fan blowing in and the other side going out. Hopefully they can upgrade that feature by making it with dual turbo fans! So far it’s working great.

Best window fan for wide windows
Great! It blows! It sucks! If your window is wide enough get it! You won't regret it! I got mine, and needed just one element of the gap filler that comes with it to instoll in my kitchen window. It looks nice, lie those fancy two part ACs. It's powerfull and operates quetly.

This fan has surpassed all expectations!
Measure your window first! lolLike half inch too long but managed to make it work. I love the remote reverse. I have smokers in the house so I'm constantly reversing the airflow the best feature is that it's quiet even on 4 speed
