Q: Are these solid enough to cut tough toe nails

I wouldn’t! They are quite sturdy for the size, but I use them for embroidery, sewing and especially unpicking of machine embroidery, which needs a fine, sharp point. The two parts of the scissors are held in place with a screw, which can work a little loose when used frequently, so keep them tightened, or you will be left with two “scis” as we call them at work. I am a professional embroiderer, and rely on these scissors for fine work. Might be ok for fingernails, but not tough nails, sorry.
