These are very thin corkboard (3mm). They came warped. It's just wipeable paper stuck on top. I haven't spilt anything yet but I think anything red, like tomato or beetroot would stain them. They came heat/shrink wrapped so tight it was very difficult to open them without scarring with a scissors. The corners are bent as they came just in a plastic envelope. Certainly not worth £18.11 - more like £8 at the most.Later: these did flatten out when I put heavy casseroles on them but still not worth the exorbitant price , and I made sure I had three extra layers of protection between them and the table.

I was a little disappointed with this purchase. Firstly, it stains very easily. I didn't even realize the plated food items on the mats would stain it so I was surprised. I don't use colouring so it's just natural colours found in food that stained it. So they're placemats you can't get food on? Ok.. Second, the rose part of the marble is VERY obvious - almost too obvious so if you're a stickler for that in terms of design and decor, then be wary. Third, the product arrived damaged (the corners were squished in and the board and marble print were visibly crinkled and crushed) but the Amazon box was fine, which tells me quality control found this to be of acceptable quality to ship to a customer which is insulting. I'm really bummed - it's hard to find board placemats with decent print. The search continues with $20 less in my pocket I guess.

Don’t get me wrong these are the easiest thing I have ever cleaned the white stayed white HOWEVER, they are not properly sealed on the edges and the least bit of water finds it’s way into them and they start to peel,I have 2 sets of 2 and 3 that have been on my table for only 2 weeks before this happened, it is a real shame because they were beautiful and like I said easy to clean , the company should seal off the sides and maybe the bottom as I had other cork last for years not do this, do not buy unless u plane on using them as a decorative table only and definitely if u have kids save your money, I called Amazon and they were amazing as always with this issue and offered replacement or refund, I TOOK the refund as this shouldn’t of happened for 100 worth placmats.

I had my doubts, but after more than a week of using them I can absolutely say that I love them. I bought 3 (sets of 2) of the 15" Round Placemats for my Brown-Black Bjursta Extendable Table from IKEA. They are quite pricey, so if you can get them on sale I would highly recommend that you do so. The look of marble automatically enhances the appearance of any space. The ones I got would compliment any white, black, or black-brown/dark-brown dining table. The roundness of the placemats compliment round dining tables. I am able to fit 4 placemats comfortably on my round dining table. I haven't extended the dining table yet to be able to use all 6 placemats, but when I do I'll update this review. Because of the white/light grey colour of the placemats it's best to WIPE ANY SPILLS YOU KNOW WILL STAIN THE MATS AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. The placemats looks great but I can see how they could stain forever if a spill isn't quickly taken care of.

The mat is not water-resistant which is surprising considering this is a placemat. One got wet and swole up. The second one got wet and the "paper" veneer started coming off.Overall a very disappointing experience. I do not recommend this mat for the price.
