Beautifully Crafted Writing Instrument
This is an ideal gift to someone who appreciates something that is well designed and beautiful. The idea of an ink-less pen that just writes and writes and writes perpetually is intriguing and it does impress. Don't expect it to write like regular pencil in terms of clarity but I think it's fine for sketches and scribbles. Your mileage may vary depending on the paper you use.

Beautiful design. Writes/draws as a 4H pencil
This writing/drawing device is out of this world. The design and finish is superb. The pininfarina name written on it makes you feel special about having one. Only one small issue, which I guess has not much to do with the product itself: DO BE CAREFUL WITH IT. I accidentally dropped it on a marble floor and it landed on the tip. It broke and I was terribly terribly sad.

Very nice, looks beautiful.
I got this as a gift from my father. It requires a bit of pressure to get a dark mark on regular paper but on stone paper it writes excellently and dark with little effort. This combination also makes it very waterproof. A stone paper journal plus this pen would make excellent field tools as well as desk tools for someone who likes to be out where they may get wet or rained on, you won't have to worry about the water damage!

you have to press way to hard to get this to make a mark on the paper. Not worth the money.

Very nice pencil for underlining and taking margin notes
Very nice pencil for underlining and taking margin notes, which also invokes a sense of taste, style and exclusivity. I bought this specifically to underline annotate my entire library of print books on web development, which is extensive and growing.

Inconsistent to write and sketch with, relies on roughness of paper
This pen/pencil has a stunning look but suffers from inconsistent performance while sketching. The line quality varies greatly – from barely visible marks that could be mistaken for paper indents or tip oxidization, to bolder strokes. It heavily relies on the paper's texture to produce a decent line. Surprisingly, a cheaper inkless pencil I own outperforms it by far when it comes to controlling line darkness and consistency. But it's a great decor piece.

Completamente Made in Italy.
