Held up to my elk hunt weather
These are not for backpackers. Light weight but not that light. Just got back from an elk hunt. These held up to a night of nasty winds and rain. For the most part. Wind was forecast for 35 mph gusts but I know it was closer to 50 with a steady 25-35 mph. It shook the bleep out of my camper even with all 4 corner jacks down to stop the rocking of my truck when I climbed into it. These poles did collapse but they are friction poles. Friction poles only hold so much. If the wind had been no more than 25 mph I think they would have held up fine without collapsing. The tarp I bought on Amazon also was a complete winner as it held up with no tears. I took it down as it pulled up my stakes and tried to fly to BFE. The reflective lines for tying the poles down shine great in a headlamp and are pretty good quality. Not 550 paracord strong but good enough. The plastic tensioners are heavier than most that come with tents and would be the only things I would prefer to upgrade. A nice metal tensioner would make this set perfect for an average camp in a normal rain storm. Oh, and heavier stakes maybe. Anyways, I give this pole set a solid thumbs up from this last weeks use.

Lightweight and sturdy
I purchased these telescoping tarp poles to replace the tarp poles that came included with my Lumberjack tarp. These are lightweight and, being telescoping and adjustable, a lot easier to carry and set up in less time (IMO). They include a carry bag of very high quality, it has a shoulder strap for easy carry. It should last the life of the poles (or more?) It also includes some plastic adapters that I think should protect the tarp when in use. No instructions....but it's fairly straightforward and intuitive. I wish they had included a couple of this plastic balls that fit the tips but they can be ordered separately. So far, I think they'll be great for my light use. I hope they last and I get long use of them.

Sturdy and Versatile Poles for Car Camping (But Not for Backpacking)
I bought these poles planning to use them for camping. At a minimum size of 3 feet, they'll be tough to go backpacking or hiking with. Taller people might be able to strap them to their back, but at 5'7", I don't plan to. Now that I've gotten that minor frustration out of the way, these are very good quality poles that work well for their intended purpose of making a shelter. When I first set them up, the poles easily locked into place with a simple twist. I've since decided to use them for car camping, where I created an awning off the side of my car. I was really surprised by the quality of all the parts that came with the poles. The set included everything I needed to set up the basic structure, other than the tarp itself. While their lack of compactness is a downside, you get the upside of them extending very long while being very sturdy. These had no issue holding up in the wind and were very adjustable, allowing me to adapt to the sun throughout the day. Overall, this is a great quality product with a somewhat misleading name.

Very sturdy and easy to use poles
I did not use the kit stakes. Instead, I ordered 12 inch more heavy duty stakes but those that come with this kit are still ok, just long enough in my opinion. The poles are excellent. I also bought a larger roll of parachute cord to allow more tie down flexibility since the length in this kit is limited. This is being used in my back yard to protect plants in Az in 113-120 deg. F temps. Works well. One thing you might consider, in high winds, the poles tend to move since the bottom does not have a point or a stake on it to put into the ground to stop movement. Maybe take a stake at the pole at the ground and tie the pole to that to stop movement.

Glad I impulse purchased these
Didn’t think I’d use them very often, more of a “rather have and not need than need and not have” kinda thing .. I find myself using them almost every single trip .. porch over tent or hammock to chill under, crappy tent purchase that only came with 3 of the 4 required poles, turned a poncho into a shelter on an unexpected rainy trip .. very adjustable, very sturdy, relatively light if a bit bulky .. the top spike and the attached plastic double D fasteners make setting up in the dark and rain almost instinctual .. one of my better impulse purchases
