Good and Bad
I really appreciated how the book talked about the illnesses that come from insulin resistance. It put a lot of puzzle pieces together for me. It was well written, easy read. He is really vague on what you actually need to do to complete the diet. There isn't really a PLAN. It is a rough outline and you are left going "that is a great read I can't wait to get start oh wait.. How do I get started" I was really expecting something laid out. step one do this. step 2 etc. So the science was good. However I just finished "why we get sick" and it also details the science and has a better food plan in the back of it. Note it's not the same goal persay listed but the general idea. I did buy the cookbook too but wow. that was expensive for a print out book for a plan that I am not sure how I can follow. I don't have $$ to join his program and this book is really a selling point for his program.

This book is for success in health!
If you are wanting to find a proven way to prevent, improve, or reverse issues with insulin resistance, diabetes type 2, or visceral fat, and lose the necessary fat, while maintaining your muscle mass, not disturb your metabolism, and be able to maintain your new “settling point” post weight/fat reduction, then this book is a great resource for you! Dr. Mowll is an expert in this field, a renown Functional Medicine doctor, and has had many clients follow his advice, that have now reduced medications to some degree, or altogether, and are now in much greater health, for many years to come. He directs you on course setting you up for success, not failure (many have followed similar, but different approaches, but have not been able to maintain the loss over time). He also suggests how important it is to stay above a certain fat percentage, while maintaining brain, and gall bladder support, during this special type of energy restriction eating plan. I’m not so sure other authors have taken that into consideration. Along with the book, there will be a supportive website, and the calculators that he mentions in the book are supported online (they are so helpful and cut out some time and work to figure protein, carb, fat, and fiber food to energy figures)! This book is the real deal; I’m so excited to choose the pace I want to proceed at, for my individual needs. There are 3 paces and approaches. I congratulate him with the release of his book and am grateful for all the advice Dr. Mowll instills in his followers to reach better health for longevity! This is so much more than your primary care or endocrinologist may ever advise!

This is the most evidence-based rapid fat loss diet there is. Period.
The premise a Protein-Sparing Modified Fast (PSMF) diet. A diet that has been around for a long time but one that not a lot of people seem to know about. This book is lightly modified version of PSMF with a couple different stages depending on goals, motivation and current health status. The book is very well written and accurately and concisely outlines the key things you need to know to get started.A couple things to consider, this is effectively a crash diet and is not easy. It's also not something you'll be on long-term. For most people it's going to last 4-8 weeks. During that time you'll be eating adequate protein, and minimal carbs or fat. This is a form of a keto diet except instead of high fat, adequate protein and low carb a PSMF is adequate/high protein, low yet adequate fat and minimal carbs. Basically you'll be giving your body the minimum amounts of everything needed to lose fat without losing muscle but not much else. This is the holy grail of fat loss but again it's not going to be easy.If you are reading this and have a lot of weight to lose then this is a great book to consider. If you are more on the lean side or looking for ideas after you transition from fat loss to maintenance then The P:E Diet by Dr. Ted Naiman is a great resource.
