Works great for me!
I bought these with some amount of trepidation because of the numerous reviews claiming that they won't hold a vacuum for very long, if at all. But I had nothing but good experiences with the taller, shorter container that was bundled with my FoodSaver vacuum, so I rolled the dice and bought these. Here's my experience with them, for what it's worth:I have had no problems whatsoever with either of the two containers included in this package. They're very well made, and it looks like they've put a lot of thought into the design. Both the lid and the base are reinforced with structural plastic struts to minimize collapsing during the vacuum process. The lid even fits snugly on to the base upside down, which is good for storage since it doesn't constantly compress the rubber seals along the edges. It is possible for the valve on top of the lid to come out of alignment a little. I don't know if this is the cause of some people's frustration. But it's easily reseated prior to vacuuming, there are two tabs that help guide the alignment. You want to make sure that the tabs aren't keeping the valve from laying flush. The lid can collapse slightly (I mean, very slightly. Hardly noticeable) when vacuuming. I've seen photos from other reviewers and mine has never collapsed as much as shown in another review. Although I've never tried sealing them when they were empty like that reviewer did -- maybe there needs to be something in them? If I'm using the container for hot foods (I sometimes use them for leftovers that I take to the office for lunch the next day), I will generally put the food in, and stick it in the refrigerator for an hour or so before running the vacuum on it. I do this because I've noticed that if you put something hot in there and vacuum seal it first, when it goes in the refrigerator the lid will collapse a little more due to additional vacuum being created by the change in temperature. If you're filling the container with something that you don't want crushed, just make sure there's a small gap between the food and the inside of the lid when you close it. When I make my lunches, I tend to fill it up all the way, because the worst that can happen is that I get a little curry on the inside of the lid.So that's that. I love them, and I know I'll be buying some additional sizes soon.

The silicone seal needs to be broken in from new, in order to seal well.
About a year ago, I bought 2 sets of the 4 containers. The small containers work marvellous, but the largest rectangular one was a bit harder to use. Really need to make sure the four corners are clipped right, so it vaccuums properly. Recently, bought another 4 of the small 3 cup ones, because I found them really useful for pre-making meals... especially for cut fruits. I ran all four through the dishwasher out of the box. At first 2 of the containers wouldn't hold a seal well. I figured it could be because the silicone bit inside is just new. I like Crocs, and I know the new ones are just a bit stiffer than the broken in ones. So I sealed the troubling boxes and when the air runs out on its own, I would seal it again. After about 4 times, both boxes worked fine. The other two boxes sealed perfectly on first try. So overall, I would say I'm pretty happy. I like the way they look and they are perfectly airtight, unlike those side-clip boxes with the silicone seals. We have had some experience with leaking liquid for those.

Great for leftovers. lunch meats, and fresh veggies. Space savers.
I love these containers. They work well with the handheld and the heat and seal Foodsaver systems. I already had 3, but ordered 2 more sets (2 in a set. They are wonderful for extending the life of salad fixings. I have kept chopped Romaine lettuce for 5-6 weeks in one of these containers and still be usable. They stack one on top of another for storage and also in use in the fridge, so are great for leftovers that take up very little space. When I fill one, I put a piece of masking tape on top and date it. Sometimes the container will lose the seal, and need to be resealed. I just quickly check them often, and if the "dimple" which shows that they are sealed is not there, it only takes a minute to reseal it. Not perfect, but as close to perfect as you can get.

Improvement ... so far.
I originally bought the FoodSaver vacuum sealer device and containers about 12 years ago. Once the original set of containers started to fail (the old round style) I had an ambiguous impression of the company. When new the containers worked great; you could store food for much longer. But they started leaking for one reason or another too quickly. And what really burned me up was that you could not replace individual containers, you could only by a set. I thought this was a terrible policy. Well, things have changed. You can by the new models individually. I think that's important. Also the new containers have a couple of good updates that I think will pay off in the long run. They are made of a more flexible, slightly rubbery, material. I think this will make them less prone to cracking; one of the causes of leaking in those old style ones. Also they each have a little "dimple" gasket thingy in the lids that show you when the vacuum is achieved. With the old ones you never new if the vacuum was still good until you tried to lift the top off. So, with these features, and the fact that they work with older vacuum device, if the new model lasts longer as well then we should call this "five stars". Let's see what happens. At least now I can buy just one if one fails.

Perfect fit
Great, fits the food saver perfectly, but why not sell it as an extra, next to the foodsaver that it fits ? I found it by chance looking at the other foodsaver containers.

Es bueno pero recomiendo mas las bolsas
Funciona bien, pero recomiendo mas las bolsas resellables, conservan mucho mas tiempo la comida y succionan mucho mejor la humedad que creo que es la clave para conservar muchos alimentos.
