It works, and seems to be good quality.
I replaced a leaky Empi hpmx 40 with this carburetor. It is very very close to identical. I took the main jets and idle jets out of my old one and they installed perfectly in this carburetor. I set the idle screw and the air mixture screws in the same position as the old carb, bolted it on, connected the linkage, and it works great! The car seems to run great and more importantly I'm not leaking gasoline into the engine bay.

I mean…
Installed a pair of these on my 1979 vw westfalia bay with a 2.0 type 4 engine. Purchased a Weber jet kit with it and I have about 1200 miles on them so far. They are working quite okay. I have some exhaust leaks, so I can’t say things are for me. However, these carbs are doing exactly what they need to do and I’m at 15-17mpg with less than adequate tuning at the moment.

Runs just jetting of course will be needed
Just jet them as you should or follow empi hpmx chart and they perform good, use weber tuning info
