This item failed to duplicate HDD with Operating System ,it fails to read the master and thats the only reason i bought it for. Im Very very dissapointed.

The board as 12 slots and a master but you need to skip number 1. You plug your first Blu-ray drive to the master and all of your burners in slot 2 to 12.

I upgraded an old tower running an old IDE controller for this SATA one. I like having the ability to go to Blu-Ray drives if I want, but right now, I'm just using it with normal ASUS DVD-RW drives, and it works perfectly. I also like that it came with all the SATA cables I needed. I had to adapt the case's old power supply 4-pin molex power cables to be able to power the drives and this controller, but Amazon has nice cheap multi-packs of those available, too. I'm not sure how well this controller would work with mixed drives, since all the drives are the same model, including the source drive. Those drives are so cheap nowadays, it's probably the best policy to buy a couple of identical spares and have them ready for when one spins itself to death, as they always do.

Have a 1 to 3 DVD burner that I wanted to bring into the future as I plan to upgrade it to Blu-ray at some point. Since I had a few pulled SATA DVD drives already I grabbed this. Recognized all 4 of the drives, including the PATA DVD-ROM I added a converter card to. Definitely recommend.
