Genuine Acura 37971-RBB-003 Accelerator Sensor

I have a 2006 Acura TL and got a code as well as warning lights which all led to having a faulty accelerator sensor; from what I understand this part is a well-known wear item and usually dies in the 70-80k mileage range though mine lasted much longer.It's a very simple install though on my car I had to muscle the part past a support arm, other than that the most time consuming aspect was removing two recessed bolts on the bottom of the mounting flange; entire process took 25 minutes. It's all plug and play and easy, just one electrical connection and a cable to remove which pop right back on the new part.After install I cleared the code, drove around for a while, and everything worked fine.

One frosty morning my 20004 Acura TSX manual (185k miles) started bucking when trying to accelerate past 20 mph and the Check Engine Light (CEL) came on - turned around an put it back in the driveway. Two P2138 codes for APP (Accelerator Pedal Position) sensor and one P2135 for Throttle Body. When the commanded position (pedal) and the actual position (throttle) do not match the computer will send out the fault codes and put the car in to "Limp Mode".Finding the factory shop manual online, the throttle body butterfly valve motor had the correct resistance across the motor, and switching the meter to volts AC, and moving the valve by hand it read a variable AC voltage (moving the motor by hand makes the motor work like a small generator).Moving to the Pedal Position Sensor, using the manual to find the pins to check for a resistance, it was slightly out of expected range. Watching the ohms reading through the windshield, I slowly pressed the accelerator pedal up and down through the range of motion and saw that the resistance did not smoothly track up and down - some positions stopped showing a smooth change and actually went backwards. Noticed that the zone of the sensor that was bad was the most used everyday position for 25-60 mph. Also suspect that the cold morning made the flaw in the sensor's variable resistor element more noticeable.Due to supply chain, many dealers had this part either back ordered or not in stock - if they were in stock the price had jumped to 2x to 3x of normal. Thankful to find this Amazon supplier of genuine Honda/Acura parts at the standard price. Shipping took a few days extra because it was expressed direct from Japan.Found a few UTube videos on the replacement and the old part was removed and the new part was installed in about 30 minutes.Started the car and the CEL was cleared. And - is it my imagination - or is the throttle response just a little more snappy now?

Fairly straight forward to install, and the part worked like a charm. If you have some rough shifting and have a hard time with the throttle this should fix most of your issues. Once I installed it and reset my ECU my car accelerates smoothly and doesn't feel like the engine is choking and jerking when I left off the gas.

I received this part in 2 days and it was easy to install. My wife remarks that my Acura is no longer "jerky" and the P2138 and VSA83/65 diagnostic codes stopped. I took the opportunity to tighten the throttle cable to remove all the slack. This may increase the stress on the throttle cable as pedal travel stops before the pedal touches the firewall carpeting.I also removed all the old AcuraLink diagnostic messages from the navigation system display using a method I found on Acurazine.com (hold down the "GUIDE", "MENU", and "CANCEL" buttons simultaneously for about 5 seconds and use the XM module screen to delete the messages individually).Finally I bought an INNOVA 3160RS Pro OBD2 Scanner/Car Code Reader and used it to clear all the old DTCs and monitor performance of all systems - highly recommended.

I have a 2006 Acura TSX manual transmission. Found a few YouTube how-to videos. Easily replaced the part within 30-minutes and it worked perfectly. The throttle control responds GREAT again!

Has the same supplier markings as the faulty part removed from my Acura. So, I believe this is a genuine Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) part. After installation, throttle hesitations and surges were eliminated. Driving feel was returned to as new. I took the old part and opened it up. I was disappointed to find not much inside - just a couple of scrapers contacting a resistive surface in a circular pattern. No wonder it wore out at 140k miles. Dealers charge more than Amazon for OEM parts, so even though overpriced for what you get, still a good value from Amazon for the assurance of OEM quality.

Replaced the original Accelerator Pedal Position Sensor because it was failing. Took about 15 minutes. I'm in KY and the part was shipped from California, other than waiting on it to arrive, I have no complaints. Did exactly what I needed it to do.
