Well made, very useful EDC tool
I received the previous generation of this Swiss Army knife from my Father in law as a gift. When I first received it my reaction was “this thing is way too big to carry, what the heck do I need with a tiny magnifying glass and minuscule ballpoint pen?” That version didn’t have the pliers. I decided I’d carry it since it was a thoughtful gift from a man I respect. I was wrong. It is a bit large. But it has been extremely useful, more so than almost any multi tool I’ve owned to date. I work on a lot of firearms, shoot, hunt, fish, wrench on cars/ equipment, welding, machining, as well as a lot of DIY type things and use this almost daily. The pen has come in handy more times than I thought and the magnifying glass is really great thing to have especially as my eyes age. Which is why I purchased this one, functionally my old model is almost perfect 10 or so years later. But my 4y.o. Sprayed it with brakleen wanting to clean daddy’s knife. Melted the magnifying glass and the scales. So I figured it was time for a newer model. I thought the pliers were silly, but honestly, if you use them in a manner appropriate for their size they have come in very handy and are quite stout. I really like the blue as that’s my favorite color. I carry it every single day even though it is a bit cumbersome. This model’s size would definitely be my limit. But it’s usefulness exceeds its dimensions. I would be lost without it and will buy yet another if I need to. But I get the feeling my son will inherit both of these when the time comes. If you find yourself encountering any screws, fasteners, string/rope, packaging materials, doodads or thingamajigs and are looking for a solid Jack of all trades master of none. It’s a great addition to your pocket.

Victorinox Swiss Army SwissChamp Pocket Knife, Black Victorinox Large Pocket Knife Clip Pouch, Leather Black 33210 Carrying Case (Pouch) for Knife - BrownUpdate, 11/27/2020Even though I use this knife every day, usually several times a day, it’s still just like new. Owning this model Swiss Army knife is like having a miniature toolbox on your belt. This is the third Victorinox Swiss Army SwissChamp pocket knife that I've owned. I carried the last two SwissChamps in a black leather Victorinox Pocket Knife Clip Pouch (B000HJKT9Q). When the leather covering the belt clip came off that pouch, I reordered the same model pouch. After several years of use, the grips (aka scales), fell off and, rather than returning the knife to Victorinox, I decided to replace the knife with a new one. When the new SwissChamp came in, I continued using the same clip pouch that I'd used to carry my first knife in, even though the case fell off my belt on several occasions. Unfortunately I didn't learn my lesson until last week when, while on a hike, I lost both the pouch and my knife, when the pouch unclipped from my belt one final time. That turned out to be a rather expensive lesson. So I bit the bullet and ordered a new SwissChamp. Lesson learned, this time I didn't order a clip-on pouch. Instead, I ordered theSwiss Army Model 33210 Carrying Case (Pouch), from Amazon. This leather case has a belt loop, rather than a clip. Before I ordered this pouch, I read a number of the many great reviews on Amazon. One of the reviewers, "Tool Collector," noted that the SwissChamp was a tight fit in this case, and that the case was made of dry stiff leather. "Tool Collector" suggested using Neatsfoot Oil to soften the leather of this case. Wanting to avoid scratching the new knife's shinny new ABS scales, I purchased a bottle of Neatsfoot oil to have on hand for when the new case and knife arrived. When I received my new SwissChamp, and the Swiss Army leather case, I was disappointed to see a number of large scratches on both of the ABS scales (grips). The SwissChamp, which arrived in a sealed Victorinox cardboard box, wasn't wrapped in a protective layer of tissue paper, or anything else. While I'm not sure how the scratches actually happened, I suspect it may have occurred during shipping.I immediately contacted Amazon's customer service, and they graciously agreed to exchange the knife. While I'm disappointed that I hadto wait another five days for my SwissChamp replacement to arrive, the new leather pouch was nice and supple by then. The replacement knife arrived in perfect condition.

Never be without it
This knife is perfect for everyday use. It is flawlessly constructed and you can wrap your hand around it good to use it. For what you may ask? Let me give you a few examples:The wood saw and metal saw are sharp and work quite well. I cut a wood frame to size using nothing but these tools. The little pliers are a swiss army knife in themselves. I find myself using them for anything from manipulating cotter pins to tightening a small bolt. The magnifying glass is quite handy when trying to use the tweezers to pull that splinter out of your hand. Be aware that unlike the picture shows, it is no longer encased in that gray plastic. It's now made of one clear plastic piece, the lens is bigger, and an improvement in my opinion; although the classy look of the piece is lost. Traditionalists may frown upon this change.Needless to say the blades are both very sharp. Try to use the big blade for the tough jobs and the little one for the precision, scalpel-sharp jobs. The scissors are another swiss army knife of their own. Use them to groom your nails in conjunction with the file/saw (also to get rid of those pesky hangnails) or to strip wire (use the rear part of the blades for the tough jobs and the tip for precision). The ruler and the pen come quite handy when more practical counterparts are not within reach.Dropped your fork? Not a problem; simply pull out the ruler and use the tip (disgorger) as a mini fork. I wouldn't recommend using the descaler as such as it will make a smelly mess of your knife. The philips screwdriver seems to be the right size for any screw out there but if you run into a really small one, simply unscrew the mini screwdriver in the cork opener. The latter one also works quite well when due to impairment you misplace your bottle opener. The body of the knife provides adequate handle for this tool.In short supply of a razor blade to clean goo off a window? Pull the chisel out and get the job done (although it may take a while). The leather puncher (looks like a small potato peeler, and can be used like one too) can also be used on plastic, thin sheetmetal and other soft materials to make rather neat holes (belt too tight? make a new hole and breathe better).I could go on and on but the point is, this knife is as smart as you are. You can find uses for every single one of its tools every day. Get the pouch, it will stay in better shape and within easy reach when you need it. Terrific price from Amazon too. Enjoy!
