My intention for buying this wasn't to use it as a rug. I have it thrown over the back of my recliner as a decor piece. I find it quite nice. It's fairly soft, the "hair" on it is maybe a half inch long. One of my cats loves getting up on it at my head and kneads it for a long time :-)
