Shimano Alivio T4000 Black FRONT & REAR Bike MTB Hybrid V Brake Set in Black

Straight forward and quick to fit. Transformed riding experience. Old calipers were seizing and caused brake pads to drag on rim each time I applied brakes. Not worth effort to refurbish. Initially thought the cables were catching and was the issue.Has added an estimated 2.3 mph to my average speed over 8.44 kilometre distance. Feels like I am riding down a hill rather than up a mountain with my old calipers. This is especially noticeable when going down a hill!The adjusting screws are brand new and a pozi drive fits neatly - based on old calipers this will probably change after 5 years of year round commuting.Also saving money on brakes pads - winning!

the spring tensioner is a pin rather than being part of the arms body although the materials used are of high quality, the cable connection again has no moulding to secure the fixing unlike the tektro v brakes i replaced BUT this had the + of allowing the cable to connect above or below on the bolt giving options for setting the cable to suit the frame the tektro did not. The tensioner screws are of a softer material and i after taking the paint off with my C.K screwdriver immediately stopped and got a cheaper softer screwdriver that would give before the screw head, they come with a short bolt that allows quick connecting, the noodle is in 2 parts and the rubber gator is short and narrow yet not of poor quality materials & a decent noodle and gator set is obtainable cheaply if you foresee an issue, for the money i paid i have absolutely no complaints i had put my bike through hell twisted a rear arm braking under strain and have a fully functioning braking system again now that i feel safe using. the cosmetic design tweaks are of secondary importance my wallet is happy to ignore.

About the best v's you can get for 25 quid, And for the pair too.:-) they really are good, I can see very little difference between these and the Avid 7 digit's (that cost twice as much) that i am replacing with these, In fact the only difference i can see between the two is the tension screw thing'y on the avid's is kinda like a coil mechanism that the tension screw pushers against to increase the leaver spring back tension and on these the screw just directly pushers against the spring arm but that's about it. They're well worth the money great buy.

shimano brakes are perfect very accurate and very solid a unique braking experience i put this in place of my original brakes and it changed overnight really happy with this purchase

Replace ment as the locating pin on aold set had snapped, went for shimano as I researched which ones was best for my bike. Quick to fit and a lot more stopping power now

I really like these, I got them as replacements for the ones that came on my bike which weren’t very good from the start. These are extremely easy to fit and it is like having a new bike.

I found these to be a good upgrade replacement on my old bike. They seem solid, were very easy to install and work very well.
